Getting a racing licence

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

i dont really know the ins and outs of it all, but isnt that more to do with the LDA and the 2012 committee?

BC Licence

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:30 am

Adam,
I have spent endless hours at meetings, email exchanges etc trying to get BC to negotiate a legacy circuit and off road facility at Eastway post Olympics. They are only interested in getting a velodrome, and will mot take on board what the mahority of the membership want. There are very many issues involved which show the management of BC in a poor light. If you have a few hours to spare, I'll give you a run-down.

Now Team GB which has evolved from WCPP (where a lot of our membership and race levies go) are a completely different section within BC, and have an incrrrdibly slick set up, coaching etc, which has produced results that we should all be justifiably proud.

So to summarise, BC are far from the enemy, but there are issues to be aware of.

As Paul says above, they are only interested in track cycling, 'cos that gets them loads of lovely lottery lolly.

They do approximately 2/3 of nothing for grass roots cycling, making such statements as "No competitive mountainbikers have come from the south east" Implying that an off-road legacy at Eastway is important. They seem to have forgotten the 3 current (2 youth and senior female) national champions who started their mountainbiking racing career at the Beastway series.

They have actively obstructed our attempts to get this years Bestway series up and running. It is only going ahead because of a huge amount of behind the scenes work by a few volunteers.
