I haven't done any speedwork yet, apart from a couple od SL's, just putting in lots of steady miles, so it came as a bit of shock when we set off with Marek alongside, cruising at 22mph (uphill :shock:

).

They kindly didn't mention that I got distanced on the first climb over Gatton!! Fortunately as the weather warmed up so did I and began to adapt the speed, although missed a right turn as we sped by with George at the helm.

Down through Capel and the lanes to Rudgwick were very pleasant, and towards Horsham. George towed us along on a steady downhill stretch at a steadt 32mph, which was badly needed as my average had dipped below 21mph (thanks George for pushing it back up again).

Turned off to Colgate and the 3 mile climb to Pease Pottage into the wind. Fortunately, not too steep. I started to feel strong here. Dominic was suffering a bit and George was getting hungry, so they stopped and got Custard tarts - sorry guys but pastry and creamy custard are not on my "allowed list" so Marek had 2!!

On to Turners Hill, Marek left us and headed home. We pottered along up to Godstone, where Dom turned off. George decided that he'd had enough of riding slowly, so off we went again, but doing about 50/50 work as I was feeling better now. Then we didn't drop below 25 mph til back in Croydon. Thanks again George.

Thanks to all 3 of you for an epic ride. 90 miles. 4:23 minutes. 20.5mph.

Did an extra 5 mile loop to warm down, then got in and fell asleep til Ruth came in, then spent 3 hours digging the garden.

Hope I'll survive tomorrow. I'll be there at 8:00am, to do an extra loop to get back to meet the clubrun if anyone cares to join me? Hopefully at an easier pace....

Sunday ?? Over to Dunsfold to see Stuart and Adam race. Approx 40 miles each way, plus a bit extra. 8:00am CSS

That ride in full sean,

Out to ranmore via reigate/brockham--ranmore hair pin side 12%, along ranmore common, up via green dene, right turn to W Horsley via pebble hill approx 14%, along A246 and left up staples lane 10%, descend into shere via coombe bottom, long drag out of shere 5/6% to bentley copse, more of the same up to the top of pitch hill 5/6%, descend down pitch and left turn to Peaselake. Hoe lane 2 small climbs 10%+, raikes lane 10%+, white down 18%, down ranmore and up box hill.
Yes indeed you really did fly up box hill after all the other hills, you did not do a bad job up whitedown either.
Guess you had about 5 1/2 6 hours in the saddle today. Approx 96k for us so you had about 30/40 more.
Weather and wind were kind today, really enjoyed it and so did Joanna.
When i have downloaded the magic watch i will let you have all the details.

Wha hey, that is a damn good ride, anything that has whitedown chucked in tends to be a bit of a mission. See you somewhere on a hill sometime soon.

Whitedown is near to Abinger Hammer, its just off the A25 and goes up and over to Ranmore, its on the crossroads / Raikes lane A25, perhaps do a street map search for exact ref, using raikes lane, as the map i have the road has no name.

Didn't meet anyone at 8:00am at CSS so headed off by myself to Dunsfold. Still managed to get dropped going over Gatton.
Just rolled the legs easy, max HR 140, and averaged a nice steady 17.1mph through the lanes to Dunsfold (38 miles).

Watched Stuart in the 4ths race and placed him 8th at the finish. Richard Viney and Rob Taylor also finished in the bunch.

Then waited til Adam started, then went to get something to eat and drink (nothing at race). Adam got in a break for a few laps, then got reeled in, and at the finish, was impossible to split for 1st place (video to be consulted)

Rode home quite strongly via Guidford, ending up with 86 miles average 19.mph (not bad for an easy day!!)

What a fantastic day of riding that was today.

Met, Paul, Polish Andrew and Robert down at CSS @ 8am for a Super Eastbourne Adventure.

The weather was great, the Pizza was nice down on the Sea front, The Seven Sisters were beautiful!! This morning we rode them all :twisted:

We blasted down the 22 straight to Eastbourne up over the Ashdown Forest, I think we managed a sub 25min 10 on the final run down to the coast, we were in Easbourne at 10.45.

Came back through Alfriston, Lewes and back up towards Turners hill. Paul is cruising and felt very fresh at the end. We had a good old ding dong along the Caterham ByePass as we were both feeling as fresh as DAISEY's

By the time we got back to Croydon we had about 130 miles on the clock, so Paul had to do a 10 mile circuit to accomplish his magical 400 Miles !!!!

I clocked in 300 Miles this weekend and Robert and Andrew have both notched up 200 Miles :shock:

Thanks everyone for a great ride out, nice to eventually ride beside Robert the TT superstar. Andrew you are Mr Consistant sure to be a strong raceer in the future

What a fantastic ride, and sitting on the beach with coffee, pizza and a hot sun was sublime.
The ride back through Alfriston went through some of the most beutiful countryside (shame about the A27).
Felt really strong today and set about doing most of the pulling at the front, starting a bit too fast for Rob, unaccustomed to the Paul/George train.
Things settled down until Eastbourne appeoached and a 30mph stretch ensued, upping the average going down to 20.5mph - none too shabby (quote from Jon H).
Heading back the climbs were a bit tougher and 100miles covered by Turners Hill, with George, andrew and myself still flying, taking it in turns to help Rob along on the climbs.
Back home with 125 miles covered, was not enough, so waved George off and proceeded to do 2 more laps of a 10 mile circuit of mine to top out 145 miles (average 19.1mph).
