Surrey League Easter 3 Day (3rds) Day 2

A place to put your results for posterity and to tell everyone what might have been!

Didn't meet anyone at 8:00am at CSS so headed off by myself to Dunsfold. Still managed to get dropped going over Gatton.
Just rolled the legs easy, max HR 140, and averaged a nice steady 17.1mph through the lanes to Dunsfold (38 miles).

Watched Stuart in the 4ths race and placed him 8th at the finish. Richard Viney and Rob Taylor also finished in the bunch.

Then waited til Adam started, then went to get something to eat and drink (nothing at race). Adam got in a break for a few laps, then got reeled in, and at the finish, was impossible to split for 1st place (video to be consulted)

Rode home quite strongly via Guidford, ending up with 86 miles average 19.mph (not bad for an easy day!!)

Unlucky Adam, unfortunate;y didn't quite make it, but it was damn close. I've had a few second places, and it ie really annoying, bur a win for you is clearly round the corner.

Rich V is keen to ride Chertsey next Sat, and wants to ride out, so perhaps the "A team" are at Hillingdon and the "B team" at Chertsey?

Not the best angle to tell, but can't see the line yet and you look to be the only one advancing Adam

Fingers crossed you can nick a second or two today and get a stage and GC in one fell swoop, and cap an excellent weekends racing.

Oh, I've had a quick thunk and I'll stick to Chertsey as the morning start suits me better, I'll stay on and support the Tunnelling Machine in the 3rds.

Well done Adam excellent! I bet if you can get a little bit of a lower sprint position there'll definitely be some wins coming your way this year :D

Yes, I noticed that your handlebars are pretty high in relation to your saddle.
I would have a look at your position on the bike and maybe get some advice about correct position. Bikefit might be worth a visit.

Oh yes george, second cat by the time July is out. As i planned when toks asked everyones goals for the year!

Well the thing is matt and toks, when i was fitted for that bike, at Sigma. They actually reckoned i should have the stem the other way up, giving and even higher bar position. But i refused! So i don't know, But i do know i feel comfortable on my bike so i dont fance meddlling with the position. I think the reason i look so high in the picture is because my right foot is about to put down anoth 5000 watts of power ( ) hence my upper body soon drops after as the pedal hits the bottom of the revolution, and then rises again when the left foot does the same.

I think i could work on my sprinting technique though, try to keep my upper body lower down, might give me them extra couple of kms per hour that make all the difference

But either way, i think the pictur shows that i was maybe even edging him before i threw for the line. Which makes the judges decision all the harder to take. But i was vey sporting with Hugo yesterday, shaking hands an all. No toys were thrown out of the pram! We had a quick chat this morning and he wanted to know if i came from his wheel, and the look on his face when i said no was priceless. He knew i was the stronger man, just that he had a slighlty better lead out. But hey, thats bike racing, when im his age, im sure ill be kicking some young upstarts ass!

In this one, my upper body is a lot lower. But i would be interested to hear peoples opinions on what i can do without drastically altering my normal bike position, to improve my sprint technique...

Any thoughts? Paul T!?
