Met up with MattD in Tooting at 7:40 am then rode over to Morden to meet MrPVT and Rich V.

We all then shamelessly took a tow from Paul all the way to Chertesy :oops:

I was really looking forward to race 2 and as has already been mentioned it was great to see so many in ACC yellow . Nine on the start line for the 4ths and I think 3 for the 3rds.

Felt good for the first few laps with time to look around for the other yellow shirts and work out places to make up ground .

Then coming down the start/finish straight just as I was moving to the front to join RichV and I think Graham I punctured :x and that was the end of my race.

Cheered the boys round for the last few laps but couldnt stay to watch George Paul and John as I had to get home for family duties.

Well done boys on a fantastic effort all round and congrats to John on the win.

MrPVT finished up his official duties and then kindly towed me all the way back to Morden :oops: :oops:

Cheers Paul

Great day out , beautiful weather , Agreeable racing

See you at Hillingdon Tuesday evening

Was my first road race so was pretty nervous travelling over(by car wasn't sure how i'd feel cycling over from crystal palace).Great to see so many acc colours around me at the start.Took off and realised the pace is going to be fairly rapid.Managed to keep in there and not make to many mistakes(sorry andrew).Took my turn on the front a couple of times was nice to be leading for a bit! but soon realised i'm wasting to much effort so tucked back in.Came to the last lap and i think lack of experience held me back from organising myself to the front.Anyway on the home sprint managed to get myself up there in the top 25ish finish i think??and finish unscathed.so was well pleased with myself,considering such a large field.Will DEFO be racing again absolutley loved it, might even give up the duathlon this season and continue racing.Well done to the 3rds watched some of it and the pace looked relentless.Thanks to everyone for the support

Mistake?
Good news Carl you'll have finished joint 11th, there's only points for the top 10 so if you were in the front bunch you'll get 11=. (Just say 11th to your mates :wink: ).

Carl,
Points in 4th cat races are:
1st = 10 points
2nd = 9
3rd = 8 etc, etc to
10th = 1 point

When you get 10 points you move up to 3rd cat and get to race with Paul H, George, and all the other frighteningly quick people (although they'll probably be 2nd cats soon).

That's why the Surrey League give all the first bunch finishing with 10th, 11th equal - no points so no point trying to catch everyones number as they shoot past.

http://www.londoncyclesport.com/ and http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/ will have results in a couple of days. LCS site also has links to photos, although often of only the higher cat races :( . You can always look at the photographer's websites for more as they have all the photos they take so you can browse and buy one of yourself if you want it :) .

I pass all the results and reports to Paul Tunnell who is our Road Race Secretary so I'll post them when I find them if someone else doesn't.

Oh, and my Dad took some photos so if he got one of you I'll post it here. :wink:

If you want to carry on racing the Surrey League site has a link to its calendar which give you all the details. LCS site also has an Events page. If you're free Tuesday evenings then Hillingdon has a 4th cat only race and there's a mixed 3rds and 4ths race in Crystal Palace park, both start about 7pm. Palace is harder but much more convenient. Hillingdon has started already, Palace starts 24th April (Addiscombe promote the 1st May Palace race so you'd get good support!).

The points vary depending on the race, but like Andrew says, most 4th and 3/4 races on closed circuits are Band 5...

Which is:

1st 10
2nd 8
3rd 7
4th 6
5th 5
6th 4
7th 3
8th 2
9th 1
10th 1

So nearly right andrew :wink:

By the way, did you see a couple of CSC's riding Zipps this afternoon!?

Oops, well nearly right Adam. Yes I saw the Zipps, did you see the wheels O'Grady won on though. :wink:

13th Carl, there must have been a small gap, but I see I finished alongside you :D strange I thought I was walking back to the start at the time.

Well done you guys. Fantastic result. Sorry I couldn't do better than I did, I was never going to be able to latch back on having dropped off the back of the pack (it was scary there were lots of cyclists!!!). A big mistake that I now know changed the whole race for me. It became a 40 something km time trial instead. I'll know better next time....there will be a next time for sure.

Cheers

did you see the wheels O'Grady won on though

They we'ren't Zipps for sure. they looked very much like trad 32 spoke alu wheels. They did the business. Riis looked happy as well he might. Good for new Sponsors SIS too as they got great exposure.

Sean

I think they were 32h Ambrosio rims with Sapim spokes on Dura ace.
Same rims that Tom Boonen used

Hey great to see all you ACC boys in action especially 4th cats. keep going things will continue to get better. Brilliant to hear about John's win. Was he wearing another jersey as part of a race tactic? I swear he had an ACC shirt on in the Henfold race :D
