SCCU 25 mile TT

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

SCCU 25 mile TT

Postby Jon H » Mon Apr 02, 2007 1:44 pm

Reminder that the Southern Counties Cycling Union promote a 25 mile time trial on Sunday 22nd April on course G25/53 (Broadbridge Heath / Horsham). Flat(ish) dual carriageway course (as used for through & off on the clubrun).

Every entry gets us a point towards winning the Rawson shield back from those dastardly Bec CC people.

Closing date for entries is 10th April, so anyone thinking of entering needs to send their form off in the next couple of days to avoid any Easter holiday post disruption.

Anyone thinking of entering who hasn't got a CTT handbook or entry form, I can provide the orgainser's details & a form. Just ask.

Jon,
I've sent my entry off, but am doing 120 mile ride the day before, so don't expect a fast time, but I'm there to make the numbers up.

I'll have just got back from a week in Majorca, including Sa Colobra & Puig Major on the Friday, so will either be flying or dying.

I'm not doing a 120 mile ride the day before, so don't expect a fast time from me either. While we're getting our excuses in early, I shall just be back from a family ("No, you can't bring your bl**dy bike!") holiday.

I will hand deliver my entry form today. As the resident escargot you wouldn't expect a fast time from me in any event however....I'm recovering from a Beckham-esque stress fracture in me left foot. That and general winter idleness have kept me off the bike for months. So, I expect to set a new PUB (personal un best). These SCCU events are great for slow coaches like me, the point towards the Rawson Shield makes it all worth while (well almost).

Cheers - Snoop

Riders in SCCU 25. I sorted the excel spreedsheet and discovered that ACC has the most (9) riders, Epsom next with 7 and the rest nowhere.

Oh sh1t! My last minute entry that I left on the organisers doorstep hoping it would blow away on a breeze, has made it through the net.

Having done two good (by my standards) sessions on the road bike in the past week I'm confident I can finish but my throat has started that pre-cold tickly roughness nonsense. :?

See you all there folks, and feel free to give me a push as you rip by me.

Cheers - 'Scargot Snoop

P.S. my PB is 1.14.06, my goal is to lose 4 minutes 7 seconds off that this season, not in one go I hasten to add!

And who is going to win the handicap - a certain outsider with 27:10 :?:

Hey come on now GP (Guru Paul). I may have the most generous handicap but I have the most generously crap PB at this distance (see earlier post). I'll be troubling no one on Sunday, except meself of course :D

I went on the turbo today and tried some of this interval gubbins (at least I think I did). I warmed up for 8 mins at cadence of around 70 rpm. Then I did two mins at 95 to 105. Then rested for 2 mins back to 75. Repeated this 6 times, then warmed down. It hurt - and I'll be jinkered if I know what I achieved. Still, it kind of felt like training and hence, prep for Sunday.

Weather forecast and wind speed for Sunday looking good at the mo.

Generous handicap!!! Andrew Green has been given 28.08!!!! So snoop and Andy are both in with a decent shout on the handicap prizes!! :P Unlike the rest of us seaoned TTers with handicaps between 8 mins and 16.48 (Paul Tunnell). Who knows with all the preparation by Paul you are in with handicap shout!!!!!!!

Yes Rob it was quite nice to see that handicap, the benefit of only having done one 25 (on a sporting course). :D

The way Paul's going though I expect I'll need more than 12 minutes on him.

Was quite funny though to see that I've got 7 minutes on Ray Dare. I know he's been testing every weekend since the dawn of time, but he is 80 now.
