Rucksacks and sweaty backs

I have been using a normal rucksack lately for my commute, but in recent days have found it getting rather unpleasant towards the end of the journey with a sweaty and clammy back. Does anyone know of any rucksacks which help avoid or reduce this problem? (and actually work, not just what the manufacturer says it does).

I use a small courier bag you then just have one strap running diagonally across your back

Andrew....I use a Vaude pack with an aeroflex back which is a mesh structure which sits apart from the actual pack...it's pretty good and means you don't have a really smelly pack at least!!!

The sports international shop does a range of really knock down prices (70% off) karrimor rusacks including one with a vented back system.

There is one shop sort of above woolworth in the whitgift center, and a couple on oxford street north side between totenham ct road and oxford circus if you steer you way through the millions of burbury caps and footy tops.

Thanks a lot guys, plenty for me to look in to. I think the problem is exacerbated by my current one having a padded back, like riding with a duvet on your back.

Used a pannier in winter (the best solution) but I'm using my work bike for TTs this year and I think having a rack on the back would somehow negate the effect of fitting clip-on tri-bars.

Marco - (no gym/locker) I keep a suit at work and rotate as and when dry cleaning is needed. Grahame put me on to Eagle Creek Pack-it folders for my shirts, and I have to say it's great. Means I can take all the shirts in in one go at the beginning of the week and it keeps them all nice and flat, and relatively crease free.

Hadn't thought of getting the shirts laundered up in the city but it's a damn fine idea. As you say the cost isn't that much and it would make life very easy.

I keep 3 days of kit under my desk, shirt, vest, pants shoes socks and travel light, same as on the club rides. Ride in maybe twice, max 3 times a week but never on Fridays - drivers' attention on the weekend and everyone's more aggressive on the road. Bring clean stuff in Monday, take the smellies home Friday.

Luckily tho we have gym at work with showers etc.
