The Dark Side...

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

The Dark Side...

Postby -Adam- » Mon Apr 23, 2007 11:15 pm

Ok so here it is, i have decided i wouldn't mind making the odd tentertive step over to the dark side of TTing everynow and then...

I don't expect to make waves, just want to see what sort of times i can put in. Plus its all good stuff for the old zipps!

So can the TT gods point me in the direction of a few 10s or 25s that aren't on a tuesday night within the next couple of months...

...plus the only TT i have done before was the ACC hill climb last sept, which was awesome! So any advice would be greatly received.

I have had a couple of drinks this evening, so i may question this post in the morning. So convince me before i sober up!

cheers,

Adam

The Force is strong in Adam. Come over to the dark side, it is your destiny...

If you can't make the Tuesday night club tens, then you're going to have to jump in at the deep end and enter some open TTs.

In the next couple of months on the local Horsham courses (G10/57 & G25/53) there are 10s on 19/5 and 23/6, and 25s on 13/5, 20/5 & 3/6. There's also a 10 on the Tonbridge course (Q10/19) on 12/5. All are early morning events.

If you don't fancy early mornings much, there are Saturday afternoon events on the A31 near Farnham (H10/8 & H25/8 ). 10s on 19/5 & 16/6, and 25s on 12/5, 26/5 & 23/6.

Another idea...

When you're up at uni', you could probably ride the local clubs mid-week time trials as a guest or 2nd claim member. Just watch they don't nick your Zipps (being scousers and all that  ).

The Dark Side???? Surely 'Race of Truth'.

Southern Counties 10 is on 19 May. If you're going to get up at Oh Christ-hundred hours, you might as well earn some points in the campaign to return the Rawson Shield to its natural home.

There are a number of afternoon 10s on the Holmwood course, I'll check dates later. I did these last year as I didn't want to get up early. (There's one this Saturday as it happens).

All you need to remember is to get your entry form off to the organiser with a cheque (£7) a couple of weeks before.

You'll go well in a 10 and put in a decent time I'll wager, just out your head down, and flat out all the way. As a novice, first time out expect to be passed as you'll be unseeded and have a rocket on full TT bike, disc wheel, the works behind you.

Yes yes Sean!!! I like your thinking!

Afternoon events definately take my fancy more than 'oh christ-hundred hours' events...

Won't be riding any events up here, im done in a week or so. The only event i am doing is one of the science in sport criteriums on thursday evening. (the circuit is pan flat apparently, so my cup of tea, only the race is open to E/1/2/3/4's. Like one big happy family :? )

Local events are a bonus really, i dont really want to have to drive for more than an hour to get to an event.

The weekend of the 19th/20th may looks interesting... may ride both the 10 and 25 that w/e depending on what's on in the way of road races... So the Horsham courses, can someone post a map of them? Maybe ill pop down that way and 'recce' them.

What sort of times should i look at doing for a first 10/25?

Once again Sean i applaud you internet trawling skills!

Cheers guys,

Adam
