[quote]I'm gonna turn up next week just to see what Kieran looks like in ACC kit

No need to wait, quite fetching actually, with my hair trimmed back as well

Anyway where have you been hiding out lately?

I raced at Hillingdon last night Matt (RichV was the only other ACC rider) went ok...better placed for the inevitable sprint...probably finshed between 12th and 15th, which is clearly of no use but closer than last week...so I may be up for another go next week. Besides Palace sounds as bad as I remember from last year!!

So I wonder how many of last night's Palace newbies will go back to Hillingdon now?
Palace is more exciting :-)
It's harder :-(
But better training :-)
And not racing with 1st and Elites :-)
Closer to home and work :-)
Generally more ACC riders there :-)
Doesn't have a loo for those pre-race nerves :-(
More places when you can crash :-(
That climb over and over :?

Palace has the vote from me, however on last nights evidence it will take quite a while for me to get to a point when I can start to score points. This is because us poor 4th cats  have to race with you 3rd cats who seem to like shelling us out the back...

When I can hack palace and stay with you guys, I'll head over to hillingdon to try and grab points.

Gets a yeah from me Sylv.
Can't comment on the Hillingdon circuit as I've not been there yet, but for Tuesday evenings it's a bit of a pain to get back from.
No loos - On the first warm up lap I saw why that bush on the hill is so big and lush!
I'm not after points so that doesn't really bother me, I'm in it for the fun, but Palace should make me stronger so when I race somewhere else, like a 4ths only Chertsey race, I should do better through natural improvement.

[quote="Jon (MIG)"]I was nearing the front by the time I stacked it on the corner, went right on the inside and started pedaling to early. The pedal hit the ground and I wiped out but pulled myself and the bike off the track as quick as I could.
Chapeau Jon. By the way if you do hit the ground or have a mechanical just wait at the start line again to rejoin the bunch. As long as there is more than 5 laps to go in my experience the comissionaire will usually lets you do that (Mr PVT will hopefully confirm this). I'm not sure they'll let you rejoin a breakaway though

You little bookworm Toks, that is correct. In fact you rejoin where you were at the time, so if in a breakaway that is still going, then you rejoin the breakaway.

To be technically correct, this is only permitted on a circuit that is less than 2km in length, and is for "mechanical difficulties" - all of which is open to interpretation by the Chief Commissaire.

As a footnote, always follow the course to complete a lap, otherwise you WILL be deemed to be a lap down (famous incident a few years ago when Chris Newton used a slip road to cut back to the pits and then won the National Crit Champs, only to be relegated)

So what happens on a circuit like dunsfold then when you have 'mechanical difficulties', are you basically just f****d!?

Paul, what exactly is the ruling then? I had a puncture at Dunsfold last year early in a race (still plenty of laps to go) and was allowed back in but was told I couldn't contest the finish, so in the final lap I sat up near the end.

If I punctured at CP, say at the U-bend, then would I have to walk around the circuit to the start line, change tyres or whatever and then rejoin?
I take it the 5 laps left rule is at the time of rejoining? - Given the time to walk around a circuit and fix the problem wouldn't the person have had a nice little rest and have an unfair advantage over the others?

Reckon the bush Andrew mentioned is a good (if smelly) place to hide for a few laps

May be best not wear an Acc jersey though, Brixton should camouflage better

Kieran,
Technically, following the rules, YES, you should continue round the circuit. If the riders then pass you before you get back to the finish then you are 1 lap down.

However, in practice, Commissaires GENERALLY have a relaxed approach to the rule, provided your return, if against the flow of riding is NOT DANGEROUS.

BTW Sylv, a certain Mr C used to regularly inhabit that bush on a Tuesday night for a breather :!:
