If anyone is after that retro-cool look, I have an old style Addiscombe jersey that I will let go at a very special price. It's the version which is white at the top, yellow at the bottom with a sort of car tyre print across the middle.

This is very exclusive as it is no longer available in the shops. None of your Italian recycled sheep rubbish, this is 100% polyester and made in the UK. As well as the Addiscombe CC brand, it carries the discreet "TAL" logo (The Agreeable Lot). It has been worn and washed many times by me, to save you the hard effort of attaining that "lived-in" look.

Not only do you get the jersey, but also a signed certificate of authenticity and choice of photograph of me wearing the jersey either in time-trial or much rarer cyclo-cross action circa 2003.

Now what is that price of this sort-after item I hear you ask. Well I'm sure you'll agree it's a total bargain at just £99. Not even three figures, I'm robbing myself really. Yes, that's a saving of £26 over that Rapha rip-off. Just think of what you could do with that £26 - go to Beer Circus proudly wearing your new aquisition and get completely slaughtered.

If anyone is interested, I have the possibilty to get a free Club Jersey worth (gasp) £90 with any jersey or jacket (not t-shirt or base layer) ordered within the next two weeks.

The twist ... the size has to be small or extra small.

Get in touch if interested

I agree - I hate the image they're trying to portray - it certainly has nothing to do with how I see cycling. Every time I see their new brochure I want to chunder

However. That waterproof they gave me is the best damn coat I've ever had - no question. When something is as good and functional as that you don't mond paying a load for it - I just wish they wouldn't try to sell me the idea that I'm part of some kind of elitist lifestyle when I use it.

Wise up Rapha - I wear your waterproof when it's pi***ng down, cold and the roads are covered in grime - it ain't about the glamour.

M & S

Raphas kind of like the Marks and Sparks of cycle wear! Well made but boring and conservative and the outrageous prices make it all seem a tad pretencious. But then what do I know, I like riding around in dayglo pink and silver!

You need more than an overpriced piece of knitwear to be retro cool.

Which reminds me, I must dust down red bike before tomorrow. Apparently there are going to be pictures taken and everything, so best to make sure everything's nice and shiny.

I have to disagree as well. I think they are more like the Burberry of the cycling world.

Lots of people aspire to the look, but can only afford either fakes or the cap.

I beg to differ, I'd say they're more like the Armani of cycling couture. :D

Nah, Armani is ugly, and rubbish quality. I'd say Paul Smith was nearer the mark - good designs, OK materials, construction and fit nothing special: generally overpriced.
