Kent Cycles 10

Six agreeables were up early this morning to ride the Q10/19 course at Tonbridge. Seemed to be quite tough on the outbound stretch, and super fast on the way back. So fast, in fact, that the finish came rather sooner than normal. Oh, how we laughed as we went past the finish timekeeper at about 9.3 miles

So, results for the somewhat less than 10 miles:

Paul Tunnell & Tamar Collis on Tandem 20:35
Richard Viney 20:54
Jon Hemming 21:21
Robert Royle-Evatt 22:13
Andrew Green 25:05

Yeah, bit of a bugger Jon the 4:30 alarm call seemed a bit wasted. I'd only gone to try and get a quick time, but then that nasty head wind on the out leg was going to put paid to that anyway.

I always suffer more in to a head wind, than I seem to feel benefit from the tail wind. Still pleased to ride the return all on 53x11,12, & 13 though, just a shame it wasn't the full distance. There seemed quite a few pissed off riders as they'd all had their best TT kit out for this course :D . All the Addiscombe riders seemed to be a bit more philosophical.

It gave me a good workout though and I seemed to get my head in gear quite well so pushed hard all the way. Last year my mind drifted a lot so I never really saw an improvement.

Anyway after this, back home before heading off to Holmwood for an afternoon 10 as well.....continued in another thread.

Not legit Sean as it's not 10 miles. We can all claim a PB for distance though

Just downloaded my computer data for this one. I really don't like going down the hill and now I know why. I maxed out at 50.4 mph having stopped pedalling 10 seconds earlier  I did just avoid the urge to brake this time though

Luckily I'll have another go in a couple of weeks when I'll be driving PVT down it on the tandem

I raced on after the 'finish' to get some useful data and it was about 1.25 extra to get to the proper finish so not a particularly fast morning despite the reputation of the course.

If you two can stop bickering at each other you should set a lightening quick time with the speed you're both travelling at. :D
I shall keep my fingers crossed for a calm day, I mean the weather now, and look out for the time with interest.

Yeah, well, I'd noticed Mr Tunnell had stupidly gone and lost a load of weight so I have selflessly been eating cake to try to add some ballust.

I'm not sure I fancy doing 70mph down that hill

And there's no way you're 10 stone :!:

Albeit I'm slightly above my race weight at the moment

Actually, I conquered it this morning - 10 st 13 3/4 to be exact. A bit like 59:59 is still "under".

70mph? No having been down there, I don't think so as we ran out of revs. Reckon 60 is doable.
