This is looking good.

Sean, I'll be gentle  - promise (as long as you get the beers in :P )

Amble to the seaside, and enjoy.

Don't be so modest Jon, I've done Brighton and back with you before, you'll cruise it (so long as you avoid all the old men  ).

If Huw keeps it steady on the flat and Paul keeps it steady on the hills it should be good - just don't let it get the other way round

Yeah, count me in guys.

Just looked at weather forcast and it says possible showers. If that changes to rain I may have to re-think.

7 of us out today for the Brighton run.

Paul T,
Dom,
Adam,
Paul H,
Apples,
Polish Andrew,
Me

It was slightly spitting as I left Addiscombe but cleared up after with just overcast sky's, the weather kept under control until riding back through Purley with a torritential downpour, soaked to the bone

Richard Apples was the unluckiest rider today puncture before Coulsdon and around Turners hill
Most impressed with Doms form, since he last was out with Marek and myself he's really upped the endurance.

Polish Andrew as well was certanly not shy of the front at any time!

We were a fairly strong bunch so the pace was brisk, when I got to the front, I was just checking my new cranks were performing correctly?
then I noticed they started to drag somewhat, untill I saw Paul T holding my saddle bag :P

Paul took us down Slugwash lane and popped us right out under the south downs, which we traversed to find the bottom of Ditchling

Paul H and I pulled away from the bunch up the begining of the drag.

Then Paul H really cranked up the cadence and started to pull ahead, he had about a 30M gap,
then I saw him ease up slightly so I got out the saddle and got back on his wheel.

Still felt strong so pulled ahead to finally beat him at his own game :)

Very windy at the top so we sheltered by the grass bank and regrouped, Paul and I decided to head back home from the top of Ditchling, after a very scrumptious lunch at POLLY'S PANTRY back down in the village.

A nice tail wind home, Top gear all the way, I think we made Coulsdon in 1.5 hours :o

Good ride today still leaving enough in the tamk for Palace Tomorrow, bring out the SUNSHINE, sorry guy's I didn't make it out on the MTB ride yesterday I sure missed a good ride by the sound of it

Your new cranks were working fine George

From the top of Ditchling it was foggy and extremely windy, feeling like I was cycling while horizontal, if you know what I mean. Average to Brighton just over 18mph.

Lovely baked potato by the sea and off we went with the wind mainly behind us. Up the A23 until the second junction then through the lanes through Warninglid at a reasonable pace.

Eventually we ended up at Pease Pottage and then onto the A23 just after Crawley. I was feeling good and got a bit carried away forgetting that we were supposed to average 18mph. I found myself tanking along between 25mph and 30mph.

After a small admonishment from Adam it was back to a realistic pace and the pi$$ing rain. Got home with 89.8 miles on the clock and an average of 19.2mph.

Great day despite the weather, really enjoyed myself, thanks guys :D

Ditchling Beacon - described as a drag!
Sounds like you 2 were lucky with the weather anyway, chucked it down here so you must have had a cloud chasing you all day.
