Newchapel Handicap Addiscombe CC Promoted Help Wanted

Postby Gavin » Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:36 am

Hi there,

I am organising a handicap on Thursday 17th May and I will require some marshalls and some people with cars and one motorbike.

I would appreciate your help with this and if you can help out drop me a PM or post here.

The race starts at 7.15 so I would like people to get down for 6.30 if possible but obviously with work commitments that may be more like 6.45.

Cheers

The course is on the yellow road making a circle around the text "White House Farm".

You can get the East Grinstead train and not be too far away.

Paul, I have made a phone reservation but the woman never told me the price with the reservation letter so I will have to get back to her before sending the cheque.

Cheers

Nice one Gavin.

Whatever the cost, you take it out of the money paid for entering on the line. Same goes for Commissaire expenses.

And organise the canteen?

Don't forget you'll need to take plenty of change (£12 entry fee) and the buggers all turn up with £20 notes.

And someone with a keen eye to sign on as they try and get away with

"my licence is in the post",
" I left it last week, YOU MUST have it",
"is it really 2 years out of date" etc

Hope all helpers turn up, so ACC can kick some a**

Thanks Gavin,

How you doing for marshalls etc? Just realised i get back from Uni that afternoon, will still be available. But given ill have sunk a few beers the night before marshalling might be a better option for me! But let me know how it goes...

Adam,

no volunteers for marshaling duties so far would really appreciate your help on this one.

Paul,

Tamar is helping out with the canteen and we'll have some cakes and tea and the like.

Joyce said she might be able to make it so will have to give her a shout.

Cheers

Ok done, ill lose my Marshalling virginity then :?

Can i take photos while marshalling, or is that not the 'done thing'!?

Will be quite interesting seeing the race from the road side, its quite a short circuit too isn't it, so ill get to see the race many times, yay!

Gavin,

I probably can't get down there for that sort of time unless I can really get out of work early, but I am on a training course so maybe it will finish early. I will let you know nearer the time.

In terms of getting there you can get the East Grinsted train from either Victoria or London Bridge via East Croydon but best to get off at Lingfield as this is the closest station, head west along the B2028. However Southern are a bit tight about bikes on rush hour trains (leaving london between 16:00 and 19:00) plus the Grinstead services is one of the busiest routes so it could be a real pain.

Or you can just ride down via bletchling and outwood very scenic.

Thanks Paul,

Come on people at this rate no ACC riders will be able to ride as they will have to marshall.

I still don't have anyone to drive the lead car.

HELP !

As ive said im in. As i want to do my bit to run races. Because they sure as hell don't run themselves!

250+ members and we can't get enough marshalls? Why?

Isn't it a part of ACC membership that you should try to marshall at least one or more event a year. Hence im doing my bit, also i feel its only fair given that other folks give a lot of their time up to make these events happen (for me to ride). Theres a few guys in this club that literally give up hours and hours to organise these events, like Paul T, Jon H, Toks, Gavin obviously. And im sure theres plenty more that i don't even know about. I know people work etc but is it too much to ask to give up a couple of hours to marshall? You never know, you might even enjoy it!!!

Maybe the ACC race team injury list can help out  only kidding!

Please help!!!
