Punctures

I seem to be getting a lot lately and I've noticed my wheels dont have any rim tape on them.

Could this be the problem ?

should I be using rim tape anyway ?

I used to use insulating tape on my MTB is it ok on road wheels ?

Rim tape costs peanuts so use the proper stuff. Some of the newer wheels don't need rim tape as the spokes don't come through the rim, eg Fulcrums.

Rim tape on wheels that do not need it actually causes punctures - all that chafing
