Route to Portsmouth

Can anyone advice a reasonably traffic free route to Portsmouth - I am catching the 21.15 ferry to Spain on the 18th June

18:03 from London Victoria is fairly traffic free I here.

On very long rides like;

Croydon - Silverstone

and

Bristol - Birmingham

I normally use michelin to advise a decent bike route, make sure you check the box marked by bike Alan and it takes you alonge all the nice lanes etc.

OK, I'm sufficiently convinced but I do so hete trying to work out who's who!

Alan, you don't say if you're driving or riding, but assume this is the start of your pilgrimage to Santiago.

You might even be walking with a donkey of course. If so, I suggest you take a look at Spanish Steps By Tim Moore (of French Revolutions fame) - in which our hero follows the route with, er, a donkey.

I am riding, off road mainly but not to portsmouth - I will take smaller roads but have all day to do it. A donkey on the M27 would be interesting!
