Rawson shield

Postby Jon H » Mon May 21, 2007 12:57 pm

It's coming home, it's coming home, Rawson's coming home.

If my maths is correct, the standings after this weekend's 10 are:

1st Addiscombe (35)
2nd Epsom CC (27)
=3rd Bec CC & Redmon CC (17)

Keep up the good work chaps & chapesses. Get your entries in for the 50 on 1st July, promoted by our very own Linda Good.

Hoorah! One of my main drivers for this season is to contribute to the winback. I was going to start a thread called "Attack of the Rawsons", thankfully I don't need to

I can't make July 1st unfortunately :( but I've been looking at the SCCU web site to find out the full list of remaining opportunities. It's not crystal clear which of these count to the shield but the following events are in the pipeline:

21st July 10 miler at G10/57
29th July 100 miler   at G100/59
12th August 50 miler at G50/53
9th September 25 miler at G50/53

I have the 12th August and 9th September in my sights. I might be able to make July 21st (will make very effort if anyone can confirm it's a qualifying event), and I've been umming and ahhing about the 29th July!! I think I can get round, eventually! How much time do the organisers allow

Cheers - Snoop

Snoop there will be people out there who will be taking a good long time. Put a note with the entry form saying you're likely to be slow and they set you off nice and early to make sure you're not left behind and give you plenty of people to chat to as they go past.

The course goes past the HQ at about 85 miles so you can always bail out early, and it's been known for riders to stop and have a cuppa before completing the course.

It's well worth a go just for the sense of achievement (if not for the painful a!*e ).

Do the SERC and Anerley events count then? If so, I'll show my face for the 10, but will probably be away for the 50.

Snoop, I did the 100 last year and am coming back for more, so it can't have been that bad :? . Because everyone needs helpers to hand out food and drink and because you're still slogging along mid-morning, there are loads of 'spectators' around towards the end. You don't get that with 6.04 start on a 10. It's like being in a real event 8) .

Mike

I think they both count - they are both on the SCCU web site as part of the programme for 2007. I don't know if all of the programme counts towards the shield mind....

Here's a wacko idea. I've already done the SCCU 10 and 25. If I do the 100 and the Anerley 50 does that mean I get entered for the SCCU BAR   I could set a new record!

And then I woke up.......

The SERC 10 counts for the SCCU BAR (best all rounder) for women (10, 25 & 50) and juniors (10 & 25). The Anerley 50 counts for the SCCU BAR for men (25, 50 & 100) & women. But neither of them count for the Rawson shield, which is only for events promoted by the SCCU.

Thanks for confirming this Jon. So there are two more kwalifying events left for the shield, we'll nail it :) and this seals it for me - I'm gonna enter the 100  8)
