Ride of the Falling Leaves

Postby Jon H » Mon Sep 15, 2003 2:06 pm

For those who enjoyed TOSH and/or TOKA earlier in the year, or for anyone else who enjoys riding their bike in nice countryside, get yourselves down to Herne Hill velodrome on Sunday 5th October for the "Ride of the Falling Leaves". This a cyclo-sportive type ride out into the Kent hills. Enter in advance or on the day, fee includes food and wine afterwards and is in aid of a worthy charity.

I'm definately doing this and will probably pay on the day so will get there at 8.30 to allow time to register, etc. Anyone else up for it and fancy going round as a group?

I can't do it this year - knee injury yet to be sorted out - but last year's event was top notch.

The route is well signposted, there's some good climbs in the latter part of the day (most of Toys Hill and a back way up the North Downs), you get a victory lap on the track with your roadie bike and there's pasta and wine when you're done.

Mr Lombari is a great man to ask for details - he and I tackled the Westerham-Herne Hill portion last year - but I highly recommend the event, as it's related to charity through Matt Seaton, the author of the cycling memoir The Escape Artist, who lost his wife to cancer.
