Yes almost
- three fully-lycra'd guys sponsored by a shop turned up for the race at the last minute, didn't join in any of the diners, drinking and activities, and were clearly after a result, with rumours of one having won 18 out of 19 cross races he'd done.
Race was two laps of a 14.5km course in blistering heat - over 30 degrees. Me and Bread a French guy were leading for half of the first lap then were caught by two of the boy-racers. It was a great fight but one of them got the better of me in the final half-lap (on a uphill running section!). We got away from the other two though including cross guy.
Anyway I got second but as the winner had ostracised himself I think all he got when he came to the prize giving was a toilet brush
Lots of photos in the camera and I think I'll do a report for Londoncyclesport. It was an enjoyable weekend with good food and drink, a ride down the Mont Ventoux (off-road) and meeting up with loads of French riders most of whom I knew only via internet forums.
Stu you can see your flag was put to good use - James wore it for the whole race so it might need cleaning.
