Another Addiscombe night at Crystal Palace. At least 3 riders in the top ten and a new 2nd cat to boot. The photos don't really give much away (they were taken on "burst" mode with my phone camera), you'll just have to wait to see the report.

Wehey we even have a photo finish!
I heard from John Sadler the E/1/2 race was approx. 3mph faster than ours
(which wasn't slow at 24.5) ... not in such a rush of getting 2nd cat ...

great result guys, sorry I couldn't be there to see it, was busy looking at my son's cub scouts doing a play about "Jungle run" in which he was a monkey. Good luck next week as well!

Fabulous weather last night for the Crystal Palace Criterium. There was a sea of yellow on the start line we must have had about 8 riders out.
From the off Sylv Jon and myself positioned ourselves at the head of the peloton, and ground out a strong pace.
I seemed to be attacking the corners with more vigor since riding the Crazy Crawley Crit on Sunday, but going too hard into the corners does have it's consequences.
On the top hairpin I almost ran the Photographer guy down as I took a wide berth out over the grass, I've never seen anyone run so fast
We tested the water a couple of times up the hill to see how everyone was going, but it was clear nothing less full on sprint was gonna propel you off the front, I think we might have dropped a few guy's off the back during these sorties.
Shadow you need to stay with the peloton if you wanna sprint for the win:lol:
I was leaving it a bit late to make a move last night, I geed myself up for an attack up the hill the next lap then a few more riders tried to come up and I got a bit boxed so called it off.
Only to discover that this was the penultimate lap. Ding ding I just went for it from the start line, everyone was getting strung out down the hill, then around the corner.
Flat out blast all the way up the hill I think a group of 5 or 6 of us were slightly ahead. Round the top corner into sprinting mode,
Jon was a couple of bike-lengths ahead dicing with 2 guy's then it was left for Sylv and I to duel for the 4th spot.
I just pipped Sylv over the line, sorry Matey

Yeah great stuff guys. Im still a way off form at the moment, nothing like what i was at Easter. Oh well.
Was all I could do to be a spectator of you guys ripping it up at the front. Sat on the back of the bunch all race hanging on to the fast moving ACC train!
Im still not convinced i can be competitive at Palace, the hill just takes too much out of me. But the season is still young, and once George is out the way too, maybe ill be up there with a shout
I was chatting to a friend of mine from VCL after and he was complaining that for the amount you guys were making everyone suffer, you didn't even win! LOL!

Ross Schnell (Trek / VW) and local Brig Brandt, last year's winner, were the only two to challenge the Giant riders. They often caught the lead duo on the descents because they lacked the large gears, but they would fall behind on the climbs.
"That was a bit demeaning," joked Schnell to The Bulletin. Schnell is staying with Craig during his visit to Bend.
