So advice on a 4mile TT, i don't know any of the courses yet. I hope to reccy them tomorow. Its all very last minute and my place on the race is TBC by race organiser Alan Denman, but its 99% on. Also the area around ardingly is hilly right, but too hilly for a sprinter like myself?

Im unsure of my capabilties for the GC in this one as my form is something of an un-known quantity at the moment. But im considering an all out attack on the Points Classification though. Like i said its all very last minute and im not even sure if i should do it. But it'll be sorted one way or the other tomorow...

Cheers,

Adam

[quote]So advice on a 4mile TT

Go nye on flat out from the push off. You can't pace 4 miles so just go all out, not sprint pace obviously but otherwise don't leave anything spare in the tank. Don't use a computer, or if you want it on the bike to record the details don't look at it. It won't matter what it says over this short distance you just have to be chewing bar tape all the way.

If you can do a proper sprint for the finish line then you probably won't have pushed yourself hard enough earlier. You should be gasping for breath at the end and feel rather uncomfortable. Doesn't sound good I know but it will go away quickly once you've had a few swigs of water.

To be honest you'll only know when you've done it, but if you got it right you'll know you gave everything. (You'll feel like death very briefly at the end!)

Most important is to do a good warm up. I'm always very lax with this when doing a 10, but when I've done a good warm up I can always tell the difference. I expect everyone's different but make sure you get your legs and heart going otherwise it'll be a terrible shock to them when you start the TT. I try and do some steady spinning first, then low gear fast leg spinning, big gear grinding, and throw in a few hard fast efforts in the gear(s) you plan to use most. At least half an hour warm up but make sure you finish in time to be at the start line and calm with a couple of minutes to spare.

Most of all, GOOD LUCK and enjoy it. Doesn't matter how well you do, you can't peak all the time, but it should prove invaluable experience.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Stu had somthing simular last week and still recovering. I'm worried about the blood thought, hope youve seen your GP. If your still taking medication for a stomach ulcer youf need to be extra carefull as it can make thing worse without having that exra acid in your stomach. If you got any engery drinks with electrolite replacement in them this will help a little. Hope your able to get back on the bike soon.
