That's a bit annoying - up at uni for the first three, then on holiday for 10 July, so only around for 24Jul (post-holiday lactic acid party) and President's 10.... oh well, just watch me retain my lanterne rouge from 2006 8)

OK - sounds like fun. how good have you to be to enter?

and I know it's going to be blindingly obvious but what do all the numbers mean like G10/42 etc?

thanks

best wishes

They are good fun Jon, give it a go. You only need to be able to ride a bike to have a go, email Jon and he'll add you to his startsheet, tell him you're a novice to help him cede the rider order. They are a good "how fast can I go" test. I won't be racing the first one, but will be there to push you off, or something similar. They are very laid back events as they are for club members only.

The codes like G10/42 refer to the course and date back to a time when any form of racing was illegal. They used codes so the police wouldn't know where the TT was going to be and nick all the cyclists  .

The course we use (G10/42) is up and down the A24. You start in Spook Hill in North Holmwood, then join the A road, straight over the 1st RAB (2nd exit), then around the 2nd (half way point). Then just straight back over the 1st RAB and you finish just short of the 2nd RAB, there'll be a checkered flag so you'll know where.

I have never done a TT either and fancy giving one a go.

12th June could be a good place to start as I should be able to get back out for some rides before that. And maybe I will have my new bike and can wet its head :)

Go for it folks - I'm living proof that all you need is the will to do it - good doesn't come into the equation

Regrettably my guvnor has called a 5pm meeting next Tuesday up in the big smoke so I can't make this (booooo). I hope to have a go at one of the other June dates and help out at the other. The evening 10s are a great intro to TTs.

It's preferable to tell me in advance if you're planning on riding, so I can sort out handicaps & the start order. But if you suddenly find you have a gap in your diary just turn up.

Andrew, Jon and all

Hi. I know this sounds rather Lance Armstrongish (and like I'm taking this terribly seriously, which I'm not) but...

I'm going to try to get there a bit early and ride at least some of the route. Still not quite sure what it is! I've had a look at the map, can't really figure it out - from Spooks Hill do we ride SOUTH down the A24?
please help!

Cheers

Yes, south on the A24, straight on at Beare Green (junction with A29), turn at Clark's Green and come back. If you find yourself on the single carriageway section of the A24 you've missed the turn and gone too far. Finish is on the downhill section shortly before the North Holmwood roundabout.
