Good to read the reports from yesterday..

Carl, Hal and I set off as planned at 7.45 and did the old pots route down to the top of ashdown via knockholt, penshurst, fordcombe and Groombridge.

This was quite a meandering and hilly route through some really nice countryside. From the top of ashdown, we headed back across to Charlwood via turners hill and then straight home on the club run.

In the end, we did 100 miles at an average pace of 18 mph, with a maximum of 47mph ( :D ). I am quite pleased with that, particulary over those hills. I thought it was harder than the London to Brighton and Back..

Well thats the second of my prep rides done. Anyone out there fancy a surrey hills next weekend (90 miles again, but with some stupid hills this time). Once I've done that, I'll be as ready as I can be for the Dragon ride...

On the downside, managed to break my seat post clamp. When I got home, decided that I needed to raise my seat a little. I tightened the bolt too much and cracked it...

Cheers chaps for a top ride again..

At least you waited 'till you got home to break it. I did mine at the furthest point from home whilst on the CR.
30 miles riding like a BMX-er, when anyone came riding the other way i got out of the saddle!
I also tried staying standing up, but that really hurt as well.

I always make sure I have a spare bolt and clamp waiting in my garage.

I'm also a little heavy handed with the tools sometimes

Butlers asked me if I owned any tools at home I said "yes"
They then told me" to bring them all into the shop"

Good ride graham, got home and collapsed for the rest of the day even with the two nippers jumping all over me
Nice hilly route, felt good for about 70 miles, then had to jump on grahams wheel for a tow to the cafe.after re-feuling with junk food and chocs felt a bit better for about 2 miles then the legs went and again had to jump on grahams wheel.
Final run into coulsden and croydon picked up a bit and felt ok for south norwood hill up to palace
First ever 100 miles at 18mph av

Carl / Hal,

Hope you chaps have recovered from the weekend OK..

I am still feeling the effects of our ride on Saturday. I think its time for me to have a rest this coming weekend. Surrey Hills, lovely though they are, can wait..

I'll be doing the club run.... So its just the usual training 'getting my a!se kicked big time' ride, or the 19's (aka 21s). Noe which is it to be :?

Ta,

Graham.

Yeah good run on saturday, but I was shot when I got home. I am going on a MTB ride this weekend with some buddies, but would be up for surrey hills in 2 weeks time (9th June)
