Well at last some good weather coinciding with a couple of visits to quick courses.
Having suffered from a cold for the last few weeks I'd got over that so had to adopt the dropping chain excuse again
Saturday evening was a 10. Nice conditions. The PCA pros out in force having a shot at the Competition record, including Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Gordon Macauley and World Championship silver medallist Tony Gibb. My aim was to do a 20.?? having not managed one last year (although doing 21.00, 21.01 and 19.53)
I had a decent ride, not quite back to the form from the end of last year and still carrying too much weight but best ride so far this year to finish with 20.55 including obligatory dropped chain. The PCA riders managed a string of 19s but missed the Competition team record by 2 seconds
Sunday morning up to Tempsford to ride a 25. The course uses the same roads as part of the National 50 (my first main target of the year hence been trying to ride the course as much as possible). Weather was still good but a bit of a breeze blowing. PVT and me riding. Aim for the morning was a 54.?? which would put me close to my pb.
I had a decent ride, dropped chain once again (I must sort that out before the national 50), was bang on target for a sub-55 ride until the last mile when the course turns onto a slow single carriageway road with a slight uphill drag. Finished in a slightly disappointing 55.08. PVT finished with a 59.57 (i think).
