SERC 25

I wasn't expecting much from this and was not disappointed. I had been in France (eating and drinking) for 3 days of the week and had not touched my bike since riding 8 miles of last week's 50 before puncturing. Added to that I (and family) had to be relayed back from France after clutch going on car.

Because of that I rode to the start a la Mr PVT. It was absolutely stonking day for TTing, no wind and when I started it was warming nicely and my legs felt good when warming up.

Started steady and just kept hammering. On the way back, up over the Broadbridge Heath roundabout, and rejoined the carriage way. Front tyre feels a bit funny, no just my imagination after last week. Got to the layby before the next roundabout and that was game over. My watch was showing 43 minutes to there so I was on for a PB quite easily. My guestimate was that I had about 5/6 miles left.

Got back to the HQ in the huff and caught the train home.

I hope the day was more kind to Tamar.

All in not the best week then. Your luck with punctures has got to improve soon.

There were loads of punctures yesterday...but thankfully I wasn't among them.

Dave Palmer punctured, as did Keith and Shaun from Bec (although Keith managed to change his tub and still finish with a 57 albeit 5 mins behind the winner), and I saw at another rider walking disconsolately back to the start as I raced by.

It was great conditions and I was cross with myself for not being in decent enough form to take advantage of it. I was feeling pretty gloomy after a dismal 30 on Saturday but took care to do a better warm up and stretch and it definitely made a difference. I felt much better than the previous day, much smoother, and at one point I thought I might even be on for a decent time....but I am just not fit enough yet this year, faded badly, and finished with a 1.03.14. Season's best though so can't be too disappointed.

Nice touch on the results sheet that I received yesterday. Each result sheet had a picture of the rider it was addressed to on :P

I wondered where the photos from the event had gone!

I know!! That must have been a nightmare to produce - I found it a taxing enough task to makes sure that the right cheques went in the winners' envelopes, let alone doing personalised results for EVERY rider! Maybe I'm just not a particularly competent organiser.
