The Official London 2 Brighton

Postby SimonJOsborne » Sun Jun 10, 2007 9:00 pm

There are a few Agreeables I know of so far doing the BHF L2B from Clapham, namely Big Mike, Red Fulcrums Ian and myself. We are going to meet up at Clapham as we have a 6 am start  And with any luck we should make good time and beat the masses to the hills. So is anyone else signed up that fancies joining us? We can sort out exactly when and where in this post.

Doh, should have said, its Sunday 17th June. No doubt there will be an ACC Brighton run from CSS that day so maybe we will see you there.

I am enjoying this summers riding so far. It definitely focuses you having some goals to aim for. Just a shame I missed the Castle ride :x But I will get my first century on the JC Brighton run on 23rd.

I'm a no-can-do on Saturday as well so I'm up for an ACC CBC if there is one.

If there isn't and you fancy meeting up on Sunday anyway Graham let me know.

Cheers,

Andrew.

I'm up for the London-Brighton-London on sun.

planning to leave from CSS at approx 7.00am, this is to beat the volumes of cyclists part of the official ride.

Looking to do approx 19-20mph pace just to get an idea of speed, would welcome anyone along. Done it last year, real good fun.

Get your names down here so we all know who's doing what.

cheers

Sorry to hear that. Nothing to do with being dragged up those hills with a hangover on Sunday?

Yohan,

7 am at CSS sounds like a plan. Weather looks to clear for Sunday.

I'll see you there at 7am as well. Just like doing a TT setting the alarm for this :) . BTW I don't know the way down other than staying on the A23, is it signed for the legit riders and we follow that?

There you go Adam, early is frighteningly early!

Cheers Adrian, I think I'm allergic to that whiteside hill.

I'll do this on Sunday.......Andrew you know the drill...... I'm out on Saturday so if I am not there by 7:01 go without me......although I was the first there last Sunday by almost 25 mins!!!

How far is it ? D'ya think I can keep up?

I'm not out on Saturday Mark. I'm sure a 5-10 minute window is acceptable (you'd have left without me last week otherwise, had to go back for my pump  ).

CSS to Brighton and back is about 90 miles I think, but you get a cafe stop at halfway to stuff in a few carbs on the beach :D . I steady paced 19/20 and you should be fine, just sit in the wheels on the way down and don't do any work on the front, even if you feel okay. No one'll mind on your first CBC and it should make sure you have enough energy in the bank for the way back. Get a couple of energy bars to take with you (rather than mars bars) to nibble on.

The only real bugger of a hill is Ditchling Beacon but there's a re-group at the top before the final drop down to the sea front.
