OH S**T!!!! A dilema please help......

Postby Nick » Thu Jun 14, 2007 6:12 pm

I have pledged myself to horse racing on the 7th July with my wife and a bundle mutal friends, totalling forgetting that this was the day the riders start their tour of France in London for the Prologe?(Forgive spelling).

This race day starts at 6 am with drinks on the coach and then a full days drinking (and some horse racing :) )followed by an evening meal and more drinking..........but I was planning to watch the prolog during saturday then Stage one by Charing in kent (Ashford), riding there as this is where my parents live.

1.Do I totally make my excuses and forget the horse racing and give up £80.00 in tickets my bundle of friends and possible ear bashing for the next 12 months.

2.Just take it steady on saturday with the drinking ( I am usually a very light drinker   ) and hopefully be OK for the Sunday.

3.Just go for it on Saturday and keep myself on edge until sunday morning when I shall cycle to Charing or some other location with some other ACC members.

If there are any better Ideas please feel free to air them as if I do opt for No:-1 it will have to be a very plausable excuse.....

:? :? :? Nick :? :? :?

easy solution for this one.

Enter the prologue and do it on a horse.
Kills two birds with one stone.

Where's the horse racing Nick? Distance could determine the possibility of a quick return to see the prologue.
Good luck.

Horse racing at Sand down

What a fool I have been, to double book on a day like that as put by Marco a once in a lifetime opportunity........ :x  :x
We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and mystery.

No brainer in my view. You can go horse racing any time you like. How many times in your lifetime will the Tour pass through our manor?

When the Tour was last in the UK in 1994 my (then) employers wouldn't let me have the day off. I bear the grudge to this day. Want to be as bitter and twisted as I am?

Nick, I leave it up to you - which ever you think you can live with

But for the rest - don't forget the RICS (12 Great George Street just off Parliament Square) will be open for food, beer etc. Like the Tour of Britain there will be a large screen tv to watch everything in comfort with the option of popping out now and then to mingle with the crowds.

I'll get an update from Lindsay (Kingston Wheelers) and post more in the week.
