This request from BC - obviously a well organised event, leaving it this late to get volunteers

The British Cyclosportive is a fantastic opportunity for people to get into the spirit of the Tour de France, both for riders and for enthusiastic event volunteers. The organisers are looking for people for a variety of roles who are willing to give up their time either on Saturday 30th June or Sunday 1st July, the date of the event itself. The organisers will supply food & drink to all helpers plus an event volunteer t-shirt and pay each person for their time. If you are available to volunteer please let me know glyn@surreyleague.co.uk by Monday June 25th at the latest.

20 people to assist with Registration at Greenwich Park between 10:00 - 19:00 Sat 30th June.
Plus 2 specific roles -
a. At one of the front desks checking riders on the laptop spreadsheet, checking their proof of ID, marking them as registrered on the spreadsheet, ticking the appropriate box on their rider card (to show if they have booked transport or not), issuing them with their parkng pass (if they have pre-booked) and issuing them with their rider pack and goody bag.
b.Behind person a passing forward the t-shirt, goody and specific rider pack plus re-stocking as necessary.

20 people to assist with Registration at Greenwich Park between 05:00 - 07:30 Sun July 1st.

20 people to assist with Baggage transfer at Greenwich Park between 05:00 - 08:00 Sun July 1st
Role here is 4 people per baggage lorry, two have record sheets on which they tick the rider number of the person handing them their tagged bag. The other two assist in this and in passing the bags onto the haulage staff to stack on the vehicles.

24 people to assist with Baggage reclaim at Canterbury between 11:00 - 19:00 Sun July 1st.
Almost the opposite to the above, 4 people per lorry to pass and sort bags out and down to other two to hand back whilst also recording on the same sheet with a cross that the bag has been collected (checking the baggage tag corresponds to number on rider ID card).

8 people for each of the 1st 3 feed stations (Higham, Aylesford & Hadlow College), hours vary according to station but in the range of 05:45 - 13:00. Main roles include supervising the riders helping themselves to the items, keeping them flowing through, keeping the jerry cans stocked with water and electrolyte, keeping litter within the bins. We also need 1 person per station to act as the station manager. This person will direct the volunteers but also needed sooner to receive the supplies from the logistics company, toilet company & bowser plus set-up the tables and then the opposite at the close of the station.

Better make sure I take enough provisions in my pockets then.

I find this staggering having gate crashed the L2B last week and seen how well that was organised.

Felt guilty and donated afterwards, my conscience is clear.

I'm doing it for CLIC Sargeant, who care for kids with cancer. Probably wouldn't have done it otherwise. I like to do at least one charity event a year.

[quote]I know I'll regret not doing the whole route with Mr T, but c'est la vie.

You've got another chance now Sean

Great article in Guardian you spotted. Seems they missed the turn in Rochester as well
