Washing your helmet....

I get a bucket of warm soapy water and leave it to soak weighed down with something heavy to stop it floating

When they go white with salt, time to wash them!

Also the padding strips inside can become smelly buggers.

Padding inside is only held in with velcro. I take it out and chuck it in washing machine with my kit. For the straps (or you can also do it with the padding) shampoo works a treat. Wet it, shampoo it, rinse it. Leave everything clean and also nice and soft, conditioner is optional.

Can't believe some of you don't wash you helmets , the straps and padding must be solid and smelly with sweat.

i use DW40 on the hard, shiney bit of the helmet. and the straps i just scrub with a wet tissue to get the crusty white bits off.
