Hi all
Reasonable conditions and (for a change) a race HQ quite near the start Marek's news really got to me and whilst I'm no race winner I set off this morning thinking I AM GOING TO DO A PB for him and his family.
This course is not bad but has a lousy start up a drag to the railway bridge - into the wind today. Thereafter it has a few undulations nothing to write home about. I pushed myself today, as hard as I felt I could (but ohhhh I wish I could maintain the concentration better!!). I'd set a PB of 28.20 on the last evening 10 with an ave speed of 21.1 mph so I knew I had to beat that.
Unfortunately I accidentally zeroed my computer as I rode over the line but I knew I'd worked hard - it was all I could do to stay on the bike. I stopped at the side of the road for a good gag and I had a tear in my eye. My God I was hurting. Please - let it be a good time.
I wandered nervously back to HQ - there it was - on the results board waiting for me.....
27.37
A PB - 43 seconds better than before . I couldn't believe it, really I couldn't. I'm obviously delighted with the time. Marek and co - this one's for you all mate - be strong.
