[quote]you may want to know that in 2007 campag bought out a new version of the crankset which has no bottom bracket and saves weight etc
is that the ultra torque thingy?

im not looking for any latest stuff, and whats a few grams with my new frame  but like rich says, it was good a year ago. also all the new stuff is a bit too expensive for me, so im gonna try and upgrade my groupset with older stuff from ebay.

kieran- im about 172cm. i thought that 172.5mm would be on the smaller side though. some on offer were 175mm!

As a general rule it used to be up to 5'9 or 5'10 = 170 cranks, 5'10 - 6' = 172.5, and over 6' 175 cranks, 177.5 and 180s for really tall people. Obviously personal choice comes in to play as well depending on whether you want to spin the pedals or have the greater leverage of longer cranks. Ullrich always use long cranks as he ground a big gear.

Don't forget the bottom bracket - Ithink it is only the Record that uses 102mm, so will probably require a new one.
