[quote]We still have TWO past British record holders in the club

I know Eddie's one of them, was it the 24hr record?
Is the other one anything to do with cycling or were they beer mat flipping champion or something? :wink:

Chris Watts - 12 hour, 237.91 miles, 1954.

I killed myself last year desperate to get past that mark :oops:

She held national record for 5 years until knocked off by the late great Beryl Burton with 250.37 miles (before she then went on to record 277.25 miles).

Interesting to note that Beryl Burton's record at the time was better than the men's record - has any other woman achieved that in any sport?

Not to forget Chris's husband John Watts who was part of the ACC 24 hour team record in 1951 with a total mileage of 1351.92 miles, beating the previous record holders (ACC). Record stood for one year until beaten again (ACC again :wink: but this time without John Watts as one of the counting riders).

[quote="marco"]spot on

Ive got a funny feeling she did it on a bike with only one gear too.

Marco I hope you're not suggesting that the only reason I scraped past her distance was that I was riding a carbon-fibre TT bike with disk wheel, tri-spoke, aero-helmet :wink: :oops:

Everyone knows that there was of course much less wind and all the roads were downhill in the old days :lol:

Not forgetting the Addiscombe Womens 100 Mile Team Record in 1953 - CM Brooker is in fact Chris Watts :wink:

Chris also held the Womens 12 Hour team record in 1954.

I've nearly killed myself trying, but haven't reached it yet....this time Chris 8)

Eddie Mundy was also in the team 12 hour in 1950 and 1952
