So there I was...

Postby -Adam- » Wed Jul 04, 2007 1:50 pm

Driving down the M25 this morning,

Suddenly i saw what at first appeared to be a convoy of garish new coloured Police vehicles.

As they got closer, i realised it was the Liquigas' team vehicles, Lorry, Van, and three cars (not sure whats happened to their coach mind  )

And it suddenly hit me, its only 2 days 5hrs and 10 minutes until the biggest race on the planet comes to our town...

Bring it on!

those pics are only 6 years ago but the bikes look prehistoric: where's the carbon?

NB pro teams are not known for staying in the finest hotels, more spacious motel type places with room for a fleet of vehicles

i would guess big cheapish places which normally deal with coachloads of tourists

A slight detour via docklands on the way home tonight revealed that at the Excel/Royal Victoria Dock Crowne Plaza are Quick-Step and Astana, and just round the corner at the Ramada are Cofidis, Francaise de Jeux, T-mobile, Lampre, and Saunier Duval.

The teams are staying in some pretty wide ranging places from Kent right up to London

Croydon has the honour of housing Barloworld and Liquigas up at the Selsdon Park hotel - I think they moved in last night as I saw the team vehicles going through S.Croydon at about 7pm

We've got a 3-way darts match in the cricketers at lunchtime.
Crap, sorry, make that crack 4 man teams form CW versus teams from Barloworld and Liquigas - I don't know who they're putting on the Oche just yet but Geraint (Thomas) is definitely sharpening his arrows.

I'll let you know how it goes :-)

Of course, the venue for the cycling event - the Addiscombe Dinner and Prize presentation.

Must be the outfit seen in the lanes of Kent.

Hope they're enjoying British driver's usual hospitality
