TdF at RICS - a big thanks to RICS

Postby Amy » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:39 am

Well I thought RICS did an amazing job of putting up with all of us. I think they deserve a big vote of thanks from all us, especially Lindsay Pullen for inviting us in the first place, the porters, Colin, John and Honni, their boss Mark Wilkinson and the catering staff, especially in the bar.

I think they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people - apparently they had more people in yesterday than for the Marathon which they open for every year.

I'm afraid that the sheer numbers did leave to some problems: one, they ran out of pint glasses ( :!: ) and two, some people were denied access and then made a scene using my name. I am sorry if you were genuine ACC members trying to get in but we were there at the invitation of RICS and they were concerned at the numbers inside the building.

Speaking with Mark and Colin and the bar staff, it was felt that 'next' time they would do things differently. Hopefully we will be able to go back to RICS the next time the Tour hits town :D

I had two rather tasty pints of Broadside and would happily have stuck around for more. Great start to the day (the watching part, I mean) - thanks to RICS and to Amy for sorting it.

Sorry if we caused a scene Amy - had had v frustrating time trying to get there through the crowds and couldn't understand why they were being so arsy when we'd been invited etc. I though we were being quite civil actually. Maybe it was someone else causing a scene.

Thanks v v much for sorting it. Great place to watch the action and good to catch up with some other cycling bods who I'd not seen for a while.
