He did a great job of raising his arm in salute and smiling, then quickly pointing at his team mate when he realised he hadn't got round him. I'm sure there'll be lots of nice quotes about "letting" him have the victory.

Best moment was the Lampre guys watching on the big screen and laughing when they saw the finish.

that looked like a nasty crash. it looked like they were piled up about 10ft high!!

i feel very sorry for mark, he must be feeling really p!ssed off!!

I know - steegmans was on fire - as the lead out men peeled off one at a time each of their faces was a mask of pain - then it got to Steegmans and he looked like he was doing a light warm-up on the turbo! Behind him Boonen looked like he was going through the mangle so I'm not surprised he couldn't come through.

Bet there were a few black looks around the Quick Step dinner table last night even if they did get a one-two.

Today should be interesting - just four days in and already the longest stage of the race at 236km. A long straight finish so weather and crashes permitting we should see all the top sprinters in with a shout (Cavendish included with a bit of luck)

I just hope that Cavendish gets to the finish without crashing today. He looked to be down for quite a while yesterday, so I guess that his fall hurt quite a bit.

He has had a hell of an introduction to the tour. 2 days and 2 crashes..
