Well according to their confirmation email of today the start time for our race has been brought forward from 7.30pm to 7.

I have asked them to confirm but if this is the case I will not be able to make it and will go and vent my frustration at Beastway.

I hope they will offer a refund

It says 7:00pm on their website. Unusually starting 3/4 before the Youth race.

I have a screen-print of the BC website from a few weeks back and the Youth were indeed before the 3rd Cats, I'm sure the Charlotteville said the same at the time. That is what has changed, I imagine they have updated their website in the meantime.

In any case I think I might now be in breach of BC rules as as I understand you can race a (albeit non points-scoring) 3rd Cat race if you are 2nd Cat but only if you had entered before moving up to 2nd AND if the event had a closing date for entries anterior to your moving up - and this event has EOL - it this right mrpvt?

I'm not sure I would want to race one hour with Elites ...

That is the strict interpretation of the rules, but suppose your 2nd cat licence hasn't come through yet :?:

Great evening of racing, with Sylv taking a prime  and 6th :D place in the supporting race.

The youth race had gary Christiansen's little boy (aged 3 and a quarter) on a "hobby horse" with "grandad" running round with him - and he was the first (only) under 10!!! Patric Schils, who was 2nd in the supporting race, then rode in the Youth race (wouldn't have been allowed if I was Chief Commissaire!) and he won.

Then to the main race, the speed of which was incredibly high from the start, with the natty pink Plowmans Craven team, working hard to break away, and chase anyone else down. Towards the end, Gordon Mcauley took a Prime, had a gap and just put his head down and went for it, holding the bunch off to the finish. Warwick Spence outsprinted Tony Gibb for 2nd place.

Have to say Tony was very professional in his attitude, arranging the guys for photos, talking to the Mayor and then taking the microphone to thank the organisers and officials.

Yep, was a fantastic night, unforunately for me a combination of a complete lack of warming up and lack of 'race confidence' left me fighting to survive from the gun. The course is incredibly tough, barely 500m round it. Slippery brick paving, cobbles, pot holed tarmac, it had it all. And two unbelievably tight and technical corners.

All in all resulted in a DNF for me, ended up with a good group of about 5 when two guys sweeped in on us from no where. I thought they were lapping us so eased to let them through, apparently they were just idiots. But by then i was left with a gap i couldn't nor wanted to close.

There was one point where i was with the young female Kiwi National Team rider and she was losing the wheel in front, so i gave her a gentle push on the backside knowing Sean would have done the same. Or at the very least taken a picture

Was kind of fun, but undoubtedly one of the most challenging courses ive raced on to date. Way harder than Palace!

But chapeau to Sylv for hangin on with the front group, then 'unknowingly' hitting the front for the prime. Yeah right, he was just in it for the money! Couldn't score points as he's now a second cat so what else was there to do!?
