well done - youre closing the gap on a old man with a broken back. I bet your mates would be impressed.

You can have a picture taken of me standing next to you if you like.

Seeing as though last night's event was like all the best events in any cycling club - an internal grudge match first and foremost, you may like to know that the Paragon are promoting an event on the same circuit in two weeks time.

This would be the ideal opportunity to settle old scores. It's plenty of time to beg, steal or borrow some carbon wheels or practice with tri-bars, etc. to remove those from the equation. Also no one will have any excuses about not knowing the circuit this time around. If we ask nicely, I'm sure they'll let us join in. Any takers?

P.S. Thanks for Jon for organising last night and clearly the fastest ACC rider too!

My excuses for going even more slowly than I thought (I reckoned I'd do about 32mins) are that I had to ride out to the event at quite a high-tempo as I was short of time. After a massive total of 8-miles to get to the start, I was already virtually blown!

Stuart, son, there's just no way you could have beaten me fairly by 2 seconds. Either the drafting rumour is true, or you bribed the time keeper. Either way, me and you are gonna go head to head on the next holmwood TT and im gonna kick your ass!

When is the next Holmwood TT by the way?

Next one at Holmwood is in two weeks' time on 24th July.
It's the Jack 'n' Jill event, but there will be solos too.

Adam don't you know they call time-trial the "race of truth" :- P (ie if I needed further proof that Paul H is way stronger than me I have it spelt in capital letters here)

Wouldn't mind trying a flat one - I found that not knowing what horrible hill was coming next I had to hold back a bit most of the time. Those twisty descents were great fun though, I went through a couple of blind corners at full speed which got the adrenalin going, and although not quite up to Jon's standard it got a 37.7mph maximum.

I was also impressed of how conscious I was of my breathing - almost like when running, when you set your inhaling/exhaling rythm to your footsteps. I did try and get aero with hands as close to the centre of the bars as possible, but this made the shifting a bit of a hassle.

Breathing is very important for TTing, in my experience if you let your breathing go out of control you start losing speed (unlike Crystal Palace where I seem to spend all my time trying to breathe in through my a***).

It's also interesting to see pictures of pre-tribar TTers who all raced on the drops rather than hands in a more central position. I suspect you gain more aerodynamically by getting your head and shoulders lower than you do by having your hands further apart. I hope that didn't cost Adam his 2 seconds

I reckon you lost the two seconds due to those ungainly wires hanging out the tops of your gear levers, awful for aerodynamics, but if you are going to use Shimano then I suppose that is what you would expect.

Well done Stu, good time on a challenging course. Not that impressed with your top speeds though, I reckon Ian Munnery would set a much faster top speed than that. When is the downhill competition by the way?

Cheers
