Off to France

Postby Richard (Apples) » Thu Jul 12, 2007 9:24 am

Well it's almost upon me . I'm flying out on Saturday for the Etape and I'm getting butterflies already.

My bike is on its way already, in a van, lovingly protected in bubble wrap and pipe insullation. :D

I spent the last of my pocket money in Butlers yesterday on a new helmet and some gore xennon bib shorts .

I think I've done enough training but it's too late now if I haven't so no point in worrying .

I'll try to get some photos ( maybe even some nice ones for Sean )

Report when I come back . hope to be on the CR on 21st 8)

Me too, but not to do the Etape. !!!!
Off to Annecy on Saturday for at least two weeks, camping, taking the Colnago, as well as the paraglider.
See you guys early August.

:) :) :)

Good luck Monsieur Pommes.

I'm sure you'll be fine, you've been flying lately.

Wow, that's come round quickly. Thought you'd been quiet lately!

Good luck and bon chance too. Hope you have a great time - you're certainly more than prepared. Look forward to hearing all about it - see you when you get back.

Yes I've been in a bit of a mood about arriving too late at the Selsden Park hotel to go out with the pros....Saw Adam coming back from his ride with Lickygas...and also missing the prologue with you lot .

:x :x :x :x  :x :x :x

Then Mrs A made it all better by telling me she's taking me to Paris for the finish . :D :D :D :D :D

Good luck at L'Etape du Tour Mr Apples - you should be fine, especially with Wrynose, Hardknott and the Bwlch passes in your legs !

I'm flying off for a cyclosportive as well this w/e - the Gran Fondo di Pinarello on Sunday. I'll think of you on Monday while I'm resting up at Lake Garda and you're taking in the delights of the col de Bales !

Anyway, enjoy the occassion, use lots of sunscreen, and keep hydrated (on salts as well as water). It's gonna be hot !

"Maria .....Can you please take lots of photo and pass some on to me for the digest/feedback site?"

Sean, I'll be putting the photos on my blog so you can take the ones you want from there if you want.

I know its short notice , but one of the group I'm going with has a family crisis to deal with and is unable to make the trip

If there is anyone who would like to come at what will probably be a decent discount to the price paid

PM me if interested

This is where we are staying
