The rain had cleared by my leisurely start time of 8.18 on the G53 course this morning, but I wasn't expecting anything special on a day like this. Keith Coffey was off 2 minutes behind me, and I figured I'd be doing ok if I could keep him at bay until the first turn at about 7 miles. No, chance, he'd caught me by Faygate as I battled with the headwind.

The first 10 miles must have taken about 28 minutes, but by now I was nicely warmed up and the following wind helped me to make up some time in the last 15. In truth, I was pleased to get round after crashing 2 weeks ago and breaking a spoke warming up for the Norwood Paragon grudge match on Tuesday.

ACC times:

Tamar DNF (puncture)
Terry 1.07.13
Richard Viney 1.04.08 (Is this right? Did he send his clerk to ride instead? )

Well done Mike. Just as I was about to start to warm up, the heavens opened, so sat in car for 20 mins or so. Dave Palmer said he was off home to bed but I thought it might be ok. Didn`t really warm up properly but got underway and it was hard going out. Got a shock when I saw Tamar marhalling at Broadbridge r/b, she must have been round in record time but later found out that she had a puncture.
I don`t think Richard rode, a reserve had his number and Mark Mc must have thought better of it as well.
I think the family paid the price for a hard morning and a poor time.
Fingers crossed for next week.

As Terry said I didn't make it and didn't send one of my clerks along to do it instead

Good rides the both of you on what sounds like an awful morning. I really don't like that course when it gets wet.
