SCCU 100 Anyone....?

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

I almost weakened and thought of joining you in purgatory Snoop, but I've got a 10 the previous day and that sounds far more sensible. :D

Good luck.

[quote="Tamar"]Snoop, to survive a 100 I suggest a two-pronged approach.

1 - get some miles in
2 - find an energy drink that doesn't make you puke

Number 2 is probably more important than number 1.

Good luck Cap'n!

Criminy! 1 isn't an option as I do this event a week after returning from me Italian adventure  I'm taking me running shoes in an attempt to keep a level of fitness.

I will do a long ride the Sat before and do some turbo-ing during the week. I don't got no tri-bars so at least they can't fall off.

I always use ave spd as my measure - and I do like a good sing song along the way - which is nice (unless yer in earshot)

I will read and digest (ahem) the rest of the tips later.

Cheers - Snoop

Good luck to all - I inadvertently forgot that the 25 on the F1 that was cancelled back in May has been rescheduled for the 29th, and to enter the SCCU 100 without withdrawing from the 25 would be to incur the wrath of the time trialling world, with the prospect of a lifetime ban for entering 2 events on the same day without being able to ride both.

In the interest of my racing future, having forgotten to witdraw from the 25, I have scratched from the 100

The good news is that I will be riding the ECCA 100 the following week :D

Have a good ride peeps, especially Snoop

Ahhh Guru Paul, the damn rool book eh wot?

I now have a good idea of the course - it goes past a mate's gaff at about two thirds distance so I'm looking good for a bottle changeover  I am going to try and have a go on one of these mapping sites to get a feel for the ups and downs. To my delight - it doesn't go up that hill on the 25 course - hoorah (or have I cheered too soon)

I went into Pearson's today and stocked up on gels and the like so I've got me eating and drinking plans sorted now (crikey can't believe I just wrote that  ).

I'm off at 6.02 am which means that with a following wind I'll be back home for songs of praise - tidy

Cheers - Snoop

I seem to be off second-last, just one minute ahead of Mr Coffey. If the handicaps are anything to go by, there is nobody ahead of me I can catch until the last ten miles or so.

Once Keith has passed me, it's going to be a lonely old morning on Sunday  .

I'll be the opposite Mike - it'll be like Pica Bleedin Dilly Circus round my way  I'll give you a wave as you whizz past me

Snoop, you've got over an hour's head start on me! Even if I make that up ( ) I shan't be doing any whizzing.

I still haven't asked anyone to be my helper!

Mike - would your dad mind handing bottles to me (and maybe Keith too)? Keith is meant to be asking his Bec buddies but I'm not sure if he has yet or to what degree of success.

Help!

Thanks

Tamar, I'll have a word, but sure he can chip in here and there. He used to do an ok 100 himself (before gears were invented, but when the roads were empty and all went slightly downhill), so understands these things.

I went over to the Dark Side today and fitted tri-bars to me bike! Goodness!! Went out to have a go and bless me if this darn wind didn't blow me tee smithereens. Still at least they offer a bit o variety like.

Weather forecast isn't too great - what's the considered opinion on a waterproof of some kind? Before you all laff, don't forget I did me last TT in a dress

Cheers - and good luck to all taking part

Snoop, at some point you will be going in the opposite direction, so with the best will in the world unlikely to have a constant following wind :!:

Good luck matey

snoop I wouldn't bother with a waterproof you'll get wet soon enough anyway. You'll stay warm as long as you're riding just have towel to dry off as soon as you stop.

good luck
