Today's Stage - Spoiler

Postby Andrew G » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:05 pm

Whether you're watching or reading what's happening today:
Vino.....WTFIGO :?:

Wierder than a wierd thing.

Good tactics by Team Tango though, Menchov up there to watch and then wait later on to tow the Chicken down the hill and in to the finish if needed.

What about the chicken going through Valverde in the TT though?

Txted Rasmussen in the week and asked him if his TTing was improving

"I've got something up my sleeve" he texted back - interesting choice of words :-0

And the C.DEP. falling apart yesterday - they need George on that team

So, to summarise: Vinny gets a pasting yesterday, is 30 minutes down, waves goodbye to the tour live on camera, then today drops the yellow jersey group, drops the breakaway group and sprints away to a finish 5 minutes ahead of the yellow jersey on a mountain stage...

Must have had an early night and a good dinner :-)

Not stuck to his ........

I know we're all cynics now (hard not to be) but please let them be clean. Before you get a dossier out Marco  , I mean riding clean now. You can't turn the clock back and undo any past misdemeanours that may or may not have been done. You've got to just draw a line start afresh, or as others have said you need to declare all the Anquetil et al Tours nul and void.

Marco, you might get a kick out of today's L'Equipe if you can get your hands on a copy. They obviously have as much time for Rasmussen as they did for Armstrong.

i think it's something to do with training in black (rather than team kit) so as not to bring attention to their suspiciously superhuman endeavours

Brings to mind another piece I saw in yesterday's L'Equipe. There was a sumary of Contador's background. (all without prejudice)

He joined the pro tour under Manolo Sainz who took him under his wing. In 2002 or 2003 (I forget) Contador crashed due to an annurism and was operated on and subsequently recovered. The relationship with Sainz was strong enough that Contador was quoted as saying "He was like a father to me". My French is dodgy but he also said something about Sainz standing next to his family the time he was in hospital.
