ACC Road Race - Saturday October 27th 2007

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Not that I'm aware of. Just needs a new promoter.

Wow I completly missed this one. Has a venue been chosen? If the promoter in waiting needs a hand, just give me a shout. Its a shame that the current champ won't be able to defend his title but thats what happens when ya get free kit and a cycle helmet

Mr PVT is investigating venues and if he can find somewhere suitable will promote. Watch this space.

Toks, don't forget the lifetimes supply of bargain inner tubes as well.

And God knows you need them!

As I am second claim and still pay my ACC subs, surely I can race as this is an ACC promotion. I doubt I will win this year, but I would have thought this years winner would want to have the opportunity of beating the two years in a row ACC road race champion, surely it will feel like a weak win if I am not there. I will leave it to the judges to decide on whether or not I should race.

Cheers

Funny that the people showing most interest are not full ACC anymore

Does anyone know if the planned road circuit at Penshurst is going through? That could make a good venue.

Otherwise and if no promoter steps up I propose we make the Croydon town centre race on 21st October the ACC race - first of our riders in wins :D

Good idea Sylv, but I have my doubts as to whether this will actually go ahead.

I'm looking at other possible venues.

Yeah strange huh? How is that the two ACC Club races (2005 and 2006) were both promoted by racers affliliated with other clubs. I'm happy to stand corrected but in my experience no ACC event over the last two years has received more participants - approximately 40 last year. Isn't that reason enough to continue[quote]Otherwise and if no promoter steps up I propose we make the Croydon town centre race on 21st October the ACC race - first of our riders in wins
I know your joking but that slightly elitist and its not gonna promote racing for newbies and and 18-20mph guys who fancy trying their hand at RR next year... Just for the record I promoted it last year and I'm happy to do it again this year :D

Interesting stuff Toks - I don't know the racing boys too well, on account of the fact that I only ever see 'em from behind disappearing into the distance  . However, I seem to be reading about a lot of new names this year so maybe the cycle of racer turned promoter/organiser is a bit out of kilter...?

I'm no road race participant or promoter but I'd be happy to lend a hand on the organisation front if this were to come together....I had an (albeit feeble) attempt at the one last year - and I learned a lot, like never do one again

I'll watch this space.

Cheers - Snoop

(I hope) it was as tongue-in-cheek as Marek's post Toks.

I am a bit lost to where this thread is meant to be going. It seems that Toks and Snoop have both offered their assistance to organise a club road race for the masses, like in the last two years.

I would have thought that people would have jumped up for joy and grabbed them to go for it. So is it now just a case of getting it sorted.

Why not do Hillingdon again, this is still going strong, and 2 years ago it made a good venue and was fun as we cycled there and back, even though I was almost crawling when I got home.

So, if ACC on high says ok, then I would vote for Toks and Snoop to get on with it, pick a date and lets hit Hillingdon again. I think Chertsey is very expensive and other venues are quite far away from Croydon area.

Thats my view anyway.

cheers

Too right

We'll make sure it's discussed and hopefully sorted out at the next committee.
