Yep Wiggins has definitely been caught it the fall out. I must admit I was always surprised that he signed for Cofidis :?

[quote="seanieh.Piano_Condor©"]For such a mediocre pro why did Moreni do it? Thats what i can't fathom, what was the edge he was looking for? A move from 55th to 43rd?

I think this is at the heart of the problem. Moreni is the average guy who doesn't earn big bucks, but the money he does earn keeps his family. Cycling for him is a job/career.

Now to keep his job, he has to keep up with the group. If the group is doping, then so must he. If he doesn't he loses his livelyhood.

Hutch on Radio 4 before the Tour said that for those at the back drugs will help them hang on; for those at the front, they might give them the edge.

His point, I think, was not that they're all it; rather, it was that there is no particular section of the peleton where it is more or less likely to go on. Who knows how far off the back Moreni might have been if, like me, he had been on malt loaf and water?

a point that i picked up from books (perhaps kimmage's?) was that as a pro you are already taking anything legal you possibly can to help you recover - injecting vitamins, swigging cod liver oil, etc.

it isn't a big step from there to prescribed drugs for something you might have had as a kid (e.g. athsma), and from then it isn't a big deal when you're offered something else when you are shattered on a rest day. and from there it becomes part of the prep. it's not like you go from SIS and powerbars straight to EPO...
