club run additional sprints

Postby Alan M » Mon Jul 30, 2007 1:19 pm

Just a thought but as I head of on me holls, maybe a few more sprints would be in order on the club run

On the way out towards Rusper, the Rusper village sign looks a likely spot - it is a climb towards the end of the ride on a straight piece of road and would give opportunities for those stronger on the hills to show their mettle.

Also, on the way back by way of BH there is a white line in the road just half a mile short of Newdigate; this is a flat stretch and the sprint here would complement the climb of box hill.

so what do you think?

see you in a couple of weeks

I like the Idea of these Alan.

The Rusper sign is actually an official pro team pre tour clubrun sprint bonus prime, I know I beat Valverde to it

In the Winter we were using a couple of other points as sprinting points, well Paul H and I were.

We always race the Reigate steps, so that is a nice little warm up after riding up from CSS, you have to get right to the top of the hill, so taking in the drags after the main hill as well, basically before it starts to go downhill.

Then if you take the shorter dual carriageway route then you have to go up the hill prior to the downhill with the speed bumps at the bottom. Well at the top of that hill is another sprint point. This one starts with a steepish hill and then flattens out for a long drag to the brow which is the finish.

But I agree, that Rusper is probably another good one and is probably a hard one as we tend to wind it up going up the drag through the trees prior to the Charlwood turn off and then you have to go up the hump to the Rusper sign which I alway find hard as I have tended to have gone too quick in the trees section.

Alan, I will come with you on the next club run that I get out on and show you.

Cheers

And with you sitting on my wheel Stu I realised that you were practicing your time trial position, basically drafting faster riders than you.

Cheers
