Chain advice for single speed

Postby Dominic » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:15 pm

What make, where to get, price etc.

I was using a cheap SRAM chain from Decathlon which I think cost about £4. It snapped on me when I was out riding in the snow. I have to resurrect my mountain bike for riding with the kids in the summer and possibly for Scotland later on in the month.

Cheers

Izzumi (I think they're called). Proper track chain strong as nails. I use 1/8th so not sure if they also do 32nd.

Mine cost about a tenner at Butlers.

I kept breaking old bits of 9 or 8 speed chain. Plus this type chain is design to be flexible so "wants" to shift (off your cog)

I began using 1/8" BMX/Track chains and haven't had any problems since.

Also you can get get half links for 1/8" chain which will help resolve wierd chain length issues.

This should be OK. Fishers are the SRAM distributor:
