It's a bit of a shame really. And in the current climate of all the doping scandals is this a sign of things to come?

I'm happy personally, I never liked the way they Americanized (has to be "z" not "s" in that  ) things.

One of the best things about cycling has always been its accessibility, but they (USPS before) liked to keep riders locked in the bus until the last moment when they could quickly nip past the fans. Most of the European teams have always been more open and friendly. Did anybody read anything about club cyclists enjoying a pre-Tour ride with the Disco boys?

They have nobody to blame but themselves for losing sponsorship. They have gone against all other teams on more than one occaision in their attitude to drugs and signing riders post Puerto. The Basso affair was a disgrace, when nobody else would go near him and wanted him out they quickly jumped in. Various other cyclists who've appeared on Puerto have signed for them too, I was very disappointed when Steve Cummings went there, I think it showed a big error of judgement.

Sadly I think they'll be back in some form within a year or two, and with the same people running it and with the same "we're better than you, trample over the small people" attitude.

[quote]It could also be argued that the success of USPS and Discovery, however that was achieved has had an enormous effect on cycling in the US. I'd argue that Lance, whatever you may think of him raised the profile of cycling way beyond that achieved by Lemond globally as well in the US.

I don't dispute that, but I still think that would have happened without the attitude, perhaps more so. I think Lemond did raise the profile greatly, as did the 7-Eleven team, but it was less well known over here as the UCI wasn't whoring itself for the dollar at the time. Tour of Georgia a Pro-Tour event, do me a favour.

I'm saying nothing on Trek, I'll offend too many people.
