Accordingto the "Metro" (so it must be true  ) yesterday:

[quote]Seven-time Tour victor Lance Armstrong has reportedly agreed to ride in the Leadville 100 (a mountain bike race) in Colorado on August 11 with landis, who is trying to clear his name after returning a positive drugs test after his own Tour win, also among the entrants. race organiser Ken Chlouber said "It is huge for Leadville. (no sh*t Sherlock) Everyone is so excited about it"

My comments in brackets :!:

[quote]EVENT FEE: $ 500
Entrants must be 21 or older on or before August 11, 2007 (100 Mile MTB Race).
Absolutely no refunds or transfers once entry is accepted.

AWARDS:
Race mementos and t-shirts to all entrants. Under 9 hours – handcrafted gold and silver trophy belt buckle, under 12 hours – handcrafted silver belt buckle. A hooded sweatshirt and medal to all finishers. Fantastic awards for gender and age group top finishers. Unique ore cart trophy to the first male and female finisher. Awards ceremony Sunday.

and we thought Surrey League was expensive

Curiously, neither of them are on the list of (910) entrants :?

Why? There's been doping at the higher levels of XC mountainbike racing for years. Maybe this will bring somea ttention to the problem and start the journey towards getting it cleaned up before it reaches the state that road racing has been in for the last decade or so.

Fat Cyclist thinks it's true (and he's a big fan of Leadville) - otherwise he would have put it in his Fake News section.

I am assuming 'dream' date is tongue-in-cheek.

[quote]Carmichael said that the seven-time Tour winner showed signs of wanting to get out there with Carmichael and lead the charge. "I think he would like to compete in it [leadville]- he is such a competitor."

professional cynics with encyclopedic knoewledge of sculduggery in cycling.

He is sponsoring the World Single speed champs.
