ACC 100+ PoC confirmed

Postby huw williams » Wed Aug 15, 2007 3:20 pm

Phil O'Connor - legendary CW road race photogrpaher and still an ACC member (Though he rarely throws a leg over a bike for less than a £1000 appearence money these days) has confirmed that he's the man taking the pics of the ACC 100+ club run

Following on from the success of the Captain's coastal ride we're aiming to get over 100 members out on the club run on saturday 1st September.

Cycling Weekly will run it to illustrate a story that despite all the negative press cycling receives at professional level, in terms of bums on saddles numbers are up. No doubt Croydon Advertiser and Londoncyclesport will also be interested and who knows we may be able to sell it to local TV too.

The pictures will be taken at the dissused Little Chef just after the Garage on the road up to Hooley from CSS - there's an empty car-park there so please be there at 9.00am prompt wearing as much ACC kit as you can muster

Following the photocall the club-run itself will offer the usual variety of groups and a choice of routes aimed at ending up at the cafe in slightly more staggered formation to cope with the increased numbers.

Please make a special effort to come out and swell the numbers to over 100 - imagine if we only get 99 and YOU WERE THE ONE WHO MEANT TO COME BUT STAYED IN BED! Could you live with yourself? Of course you couldn't, so we'll see you there, in kit with bike

Is there a clash here with the track event or is this a cunningly planned seemless transition?

I'd suggest that anyone doing the track event does a very short club run - plenty of time to get back to HH

Is there an "early bird" clubrun to Horley, as post says to be there at 9:00am?

Must get some new glasses

Still means an early bird start for 9:00am there, and Regalinos wouldn't have opened

I didn't get a reply from Belinda (written again today) but I will take a pic or two and scribble down a note for the local rags - preferrably with the help of a good wordsmith.....and see where we go from there.

I thought the plan was now meet at 9:00am at Coulsden South Station (as normal, but a bit earlier) for a lap of the new bypass and old route out of Coulsden for a photo opportunity then on to the old Little Chef for a regroup and large posed group photo. This was mentioned on Saturday.

I could be wrong, but I think the plan needs to be definitely stated.

The paln is now deifinitely

9.00am at CSS as normal - if at all possible we'll do a riding pic near the little roundabout on the bypass - also provides a video opportunity for Monty

Then we'll scoot up to the little chef for a groupshot if it hasn't already been done at the bypass

Please pass on this info to all concerned who you know are coming

Thanks
