MTB training rides

Postby stu23 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 2:33 pm

Would anyone be interested in going for a few training rides avec moi?

im quite flexible for times and days but be warned these rides will be much faster than the sociable sunday morning rides.

id be looking to ride for 2/3 hours at a good pace hopefully covering about 20-30 + miles, so if anyones intersted could you give me a pm or shout back on here with some idea of when you'd want to go

Sounds like a good idea Stu.

There is or was a regular ish evening ride on thursdays that goes from outside the station

Get back to you about meeting up for a ride. Bike needs a bit of attention first.

I'd be interested in these if they happened on a Wednesday evening. Do you have a format in mind? Would it be the same route, time and day of week each time or would it vary?

To be honest i want to get peoples ideas to see what they think and if they'd be interested. as i mentioned before times and dates are flexible, and it would totally depend on those involved whether it would be the same route everytime, ie try and improve and compare times or whether you'd want to vary it up doing multiple different routes.

my preferred format would be doing 2or3 different loops and alternating them week after week so the loops didnt get to boring and "same old", not neciserily timed or anything but just really pushing ourselves and shifting. preferably id like to do them on a saturday/sunday morning....

....but as i said everything is flexible depending of the wants of the people involved, so if anyone has any ideas post them

For me at the moment I want to go out with the training group on a Saturday, go for a good quality ride on a Sunday and commute a few times during week. I tend to ride off road with Someone on Sundays already, we normally do around 2/3 hours and the pace is reasonable but the route is pretty hilly and mostly off road. We tend to meet near Woldingham Garden centre and traverse the North Downs before heading back towards Woldingham Golf Course. If you're interested I can meet up this Wednesday evening, I don't mind sorting out a route, I live in Selsdon.

I'm not really too sure :)

it tends to be off road so I don't know where I am. I quite like;

a track that goes to Woldingham from Al Fayeds place, Godstone Enterdent, Titsey Hill ( a footpath not the main road), Titsey foundation path, Limpsfield Chart and anther path that leads up to a farm near Chaldon. Not sure if this is of any use.

Not on North Downs;

Featherbed Lane, some tracks of Featherbed Lane, Track by Dukes Dene GC, tracks Around Woldingham.

i think i sort of understand where you go. theres a really nice ride allll the way to leith hill ALL off road, some lovely super fast singletrack on the north downs, sometimes do that then over to leith hill and holmbury hill for a muck about there then train home, normally thats quite a good training ride - definately contemplating doing that as a training ride soon with whoever else fancies it.

I might be up for this - always keen for a fast off road ride.

Weekends would be better for me too; I commute between Croydon and Crawley which is just about enough weekday cycling for me.

I live in Addiscombe which is probably only 15 minutes from Selsdon, so I'm happy to meet you guys on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Weather forecast for the bank holiday weekend looks good; anyone up for a fast MTB ride on Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning?

I was thinking a training sort of pace, but I'd be happy to take things a bit slower. Really, as long as I can get out on the mtb I'll be happy.

On the infrequent occasions I attend the Saturday clubrun I tend to go with the training group. Probably do the same this weekend unless there are a few punters who'd rather go off road, in which case I'll do that.
