I wish I hadn't but I just googled it ....

Just checked the flight details online and found I've been moved to the monday flight as well. Nice of them to let me know. :roll:

Hi Huw,

As per my email, unfortunately I don't think it's worth me coming out on the Monday, as I would only have 2 days in the Alps before travelling down to Pau on the Thursday.

If you could try and get the Â£50 deposit back for me I'd appreciate it, or I could try to 'sell' my place.

Friend of mine has a chalet in Maronne, a small hamlet, which is up the Alpe d'Huez climb to turn 16 then turn off to the right, and climb up on the other side of the gorge, to around the same height as turn 6.
I was out there the day he rode the Marmotte, and after he finished at the top of Alpe d'Huez he had to descend to turn 16 and climb up again to get home.
I watched him creepng up the last 200 yards from my vantage point on his balcony as I sipped a nice cold beer. !! :roll:

Well Ryanair have finally deigned to email me so I've confirmed the change. Slick operation they have as when I checked the details the other day it was already telling me Monday and that it was confirmed. :roll:

Thankfully for any future visits that may happen to KOM Easyjet are starting to fly to Grenoble from Gatwick from December/January with one flight going every day I think. They may not be perfect but they're head and shoulders above Ryanair, and it won't involve getting to Stanstead.

BTW what are people planning to do to get to Stanstead - Train? Long term car parking is a bit pricey and a cab won't be cheap. Only thought is that we could be carting bike bags through Liverpool Street station in the Monday morning rush hour, should be fun

Evening, I have confirmed my booking for Monday now.

Was hoping that I could get a lift to Stanstead and could have taken a couple of others but that was when it was Sunday. Now the flight has moved to Monday then I think it will have to be rush hour & trains.

Maybe Andrew & I could have a competition for the biggest bag in the world as I think that mine is pretty big.

Is it a Planet X one? The one I took to Italy was and it's vast. I fitted my bike, cycling shoes, helmet, all my cycling clothing, tools, a ton of bars and gels, and bottles of energy drink powder in it. Still had space so chucked in some more shoes and sandals. There was still space left in it but I nearly gave myself a hernia trying to lug the thing about railway stations as it was. Stairs were not fun.

On David's recommendation I looked at the Decathlon ones, now badges B-Twin. More compact, with a solid base, a clamp to hold the front forks, and some wheels to tow it about.

If anybody (probably taller and stronger than me which should narrow it down a lot :roll:

) wants the Planet X one let me know. If you're big enough to manage the size :shock:

then it's a decent bag with loads of internal pockets.

Andrew, yes thats the one.... I am normally a very light traveller so if anybody fancies a free flight to France there will probably be plenty of room in my bag for about half the club run!!
