Cycles Dauphin Army CU 3 Day 2007

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Not just Addiscombe riders who've noticed that Dynamo chase down their team mates. Good to see their own man has a good sense of humour about it.

I think it's more likely one of the blokes will cry off. (Not just because it's a numbers game.) In the women's race at Hillingon last week no one dropped out when the heavens opened. Meanwhile in the concurrent vets race that was going on, no end of riders rode off the course to their cars.
By the end of evening the race just consisted of a handful of men ! Wimps !

I wouldn't bank on it. Charley Blackman is made of tough stuff. We raced in the torrent last week together at Hillingdon. She did the rainswept Nationals at the weekend, and this weekend won't be her first Surrey League stage race.
Also, as an ex elite rower I don't think getting wet is gonna be a problem for her !
I would've joined her, but I'm taking myself off to the sunnier (and hopefully slightly drier) climes of the Pyrenees !

Good Luck with your stage race !

This tread is in danger of becoming a man vs woman thing! Always interesting to watch - but not so good for general club harmony.....

Trying to move back to the topic - I'm pretty sure Stu you will get in. In a field of 80 you will normally get at least five no-shows due to illness, broken bikes, broken bodies, work commitments, family issues, etc. The improving weather forecast could reduce the number of drop-outs - but I'm 80% or more sure you will get it.

I didn't mean this as the girls I was just trying to imply that the Dynamo's are woosies, hell I didn't even realise there were any ladies riding
Sorry Maria and have a nice holiday.

Cool, see you both tomorow...

I can vouch for Charley Blackman being a tough nut, i raced with her through the Easter 3 Day. She's a gutsy rider. And apparently, she was 'instrumental' in bringing back my Dunsfold breakaway, Bitch!

Nah only kidding, she's alrite, think i had a brief chat with her during the day after. Anyhow, i think its great that bothe sexes compete side by side, how many other sports allow it!?

Guys - good luck over the weekend.

One tip for the hillclimb on Friday is that you cannot be too warmed-up for these short sharp efforts. From my hillclimb experiences (and timed training sessions on the hills) your first full on attempt each day is not your fastest - even after a decent warm-up. It can be the second or even the third attempt before you operating most effectively. Don't be afraid to warm up well and get up to the pace you will be riding at and holding at that pace for several minutes. Only if you lack some racing fitness or really struggle on the hills (which you both don't) does it become possible to warm-up too much.

Also - make sure you know where the course starts and finishes. It's not quite in the normal place people time to/from on the ACC run. Plus make sure you plan your cornering lines too.

Finally I suspect the 2006 results on the SL Website are too fast - e.g. maybe the timer keepers at the top and bottom were not fully synchronised. Any time under 5:15 is pretty good and 5:00 better still. Actual times will depend on the conditions in any case.
