Magnus Backstedt liked his, but then again he's about twice the weight of the climbers

The Scott CR1 or Addict is worth a look too.
My CR1 weighs in at about 16 lbs without any ultralightweight pimping necessary to get it there; Mavic SSC-SL clinchers, 3 year old 9 speed Dura-Ace, Easton seatpost, bars & stem, SLR-XP saddle, old-style (not Keo) Look pedals.

I had kindof made my mind up on a Cervelo R3 SL. However, I have it on good authority that they are as rare as rocking-horse sh*t - especially if you want a size 51 (53cm in real c-c top-tube terms). No one has any knocking around, plus the UK distributor has none in stock either. It could be a long wait or maybe I get a standard R3 instead.....

A 51cm R3 is tiny!

How tall are you and your inseam? I'm 5ft8 with a 32inches inseam. I had a fitting at Dauphins as I was originally going for a 51cm but was told i needed a 54cm. The c-t measurement on the 54cm R3 is 510mm. My saddle height from bottom bracket to top of saddle is 720mm.

Easier to get an R3 than the R3 SL plus it's £400 cheaper but it's your choice Tony!

Here's mine, as you can see it needs some deep profile rims which I have got now and need to fit :-

And here's an R3 SL :-

For plenty of images on Cervelo :-
Tony,

Try RA Cycles in Brooklyn, NY. ;-)

With the exchange rate as it is you should do well.

$3,300 = £1,650. Not sure if thats better than the UK price, but its still bloody good.

Shipping rates.

Whoa, just checked Sigmasport and the deal for the same frame is ....

Pricing
The R3 is supplied as aframeset at £2,199. Same price quoted at GBs. Thats some markup, you'd easily pay less in import ( I Hope) and still save dosh once you knew the size etc...

Sean

You will be stung for import tax and VAT @ Customs plus don't forget delivery cost to the UK so price will be similar to UK price...

Hi Rob - I've pm-ed you with a few details about sizes, etc. I didn't think there was a need to discuss our respective inside leg measurements in public. You never know who is watching and taking an interest.

Sean - thanks for the suggestion. Getting an import is always an option - although Uk-sourced probably simpler, if I can manage to achieve this.

If I was in the market I'd be very tempted by a Canyon

€3250 (under £2200) gets you a 6.8kg bike these days!
